I don't need an argument against your religion, which might or might not be true (I don't really care).
All I need is my unalienable right to tell you no and that you won't force me into it.
You will not take that from me peacefully.
I hope that's clear.

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.

On 4/23/03 The White Stripes played Jolene by Dolly Parton on their second week long night on โLate Night with Conan OโBrienโ. It was the first time I heard Jolene. My mother told me it was a song by Dolly. My maternal grandmother found her record with it and played it for me. Months later in November. I stood front stage center to the last show of the Elephant tour. And they played Jolene. Moment Jack White played it I heard a woman shout โItโs Jolene!โ. Thank you for writing that song Dolly. So many memories attached to it. Iโm sure going to miss you! Rest in peace. ๐๐ขโค๏ธ๐ค๐ค๐ธ๐ฅ

One of the all-time great Rock Hall moments: Dollyโs โJoleneโ with Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Pink, and Sheryl Crow. Zac Brown Band held it down as the house band.
Rest easy, Dolly ๐ค teapawt.net/JVPALT1/status/2092319โฆ
