Really? No pollinators = no food. There’s market failure for pollinators. Individuals think someone else has to provide for them.

Yup - l tried and failed. It’s akin to the race for concert tickets. Perhaps the bots got all the applications. The issue l had was not being able to remove a field selected as it had an “error” so couldn’t submit without starting again - by which time it was closed!

Sensationalist hype. They didn’t say this. Balance of grazing animals is needed as always. I suspect that farmers see removal of the ponies as favourable compared to reducing their cattle and sheep numbers in some areas. The reduction of numbers should be shared.

Context Matters =
Natural England wants to cut grazing numbers to meet habitat recovery targets. Farmers say the cuts are so extreme they’d wipe out most herds over time. The animals wouldn’t be “culled”, they’d be sold off, rehomed, or the herds would slowly shrink.

Be better spending £1.5m on more MPZs . This is just plundering stocks. Does it include funding sea harrows for scallops?

How about restoring and expanding the habitats & species we are required to protect by law first?
Beavers can do the work needed cheaply but there’s a lot more that could be done to restore wetlands. National forests aren’t really forests. Try linkage and restoring rivers.
Taking it to another level to restore farmed landscapes to multi-functional landscapes more in harmony with nature. We should see a lot more of this if Landscape Recovery is well funded. Not a threat, but an opportunity for farmers to give back….and be contented!

They’ll be a great addition. Thickets of scrub are so valuable. The Cactus guards are on their way to you. Should be there by Tuesday. If not let me know and l will chase.

err… incomes are far lower in the north.

Not something we should have in the east of England then!

That will be epic. Good mix of Cactus guards and big timber tree cages will produce a diverse landscape in the near future and gives hope for the distant future. We could do this over significant areas of poor grazing land. So much better than plantation spruce.

Nice scenes but does need some trees regenerating/planting. Is this happening with just cattle or are deer hampering it?

He should sire some great calves!
No mention of beef production being high welfare, ethical, sustainable or ideally regenerative. The industrial beef production system is wrong on many fronts. In the UK we are following the US policy and system.
Been a good summer for sunflowers . This wild bird mixes backed by abundant hawthorn berries should help out some birds this winter.
