"Additionally, the new law updated the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 to include protection for sex workers ensuring that sex workers could not be discriminated against by hotels & accommodations for believing that guests would be using a room for sex work."

Sigh...more evidence we will have to keep fighting for sw rights forever. Netherlands used to be a beacon of liberalism and common sense.
Yet another shameful example of lawmakers ignoring the voices of sex workers, assuming what is best for us and enacting changes that will only increase harm.
Listen to sex workers!

We’ve been invited to March on LABOUR DAY in pride of place behind the First Nations contingent. This is because the decriminalisation of s3x work is considered a key issue alongside the Voice to Parliament. #DecrimQLD
Was so great to see #sexworker march at Sydney this past weekend #MardiGras2023 #WorldPride2023 wish I could have been there 😍

Hot off the press! We write how financial discrimination against sex workers results from whorephobia, racial capitalism & carceral politics. Thanks to my brilliant co-authors

2023 is the year we abolish the licensing system once and for all. Licensing has FAILED, and #QLD s*x workers are tired of the two-tiered system it creates. We are ready for change, and we are ready to leave no s*x worker behind in 2023!

ALT The image is a meme. You can see a large, off-white, carved gravestone on the left, with a fresh mound of dirt in front of it; the grave is labelled "1999-2023: the licensing model". In the background are several funeral attendees in black. To the right is a young white man in a suit and black jacket, on one knee next to the grave and smiling, giving the camera a reversed peace sign (a rude gesture from the UK). He is labelled "Queensland sex workers". The general context of the image is QLD sex workers being happy about the death of the licensing model.

SW increasingly use the internet to connect with clients and the SW community; address violence; and work with more flexibility and autonomy. The systemic discrimination specifically targeting SW online is a direct threat to our safety, health, and human rights.
