Telesat lenders have proposed a C$3.2bn rescue package to avert a December default, comprising C$1.7bn in equity and C$1.5bn in debt financing. The proposal follows litigation over Telesat's transfer of a 62% interest in its Lightspeed satellite project to a subsidiary beyond certain creditors' reach. Lenders including Silver Point and Sound Point have challenged the transfer, making asset ownership and collateral protection central to negotiations. Telesat has not accepted the proposal.
