Feels like we didn't get enough hubbub about US diesel stocks falling below 100 million barrels last week for the first time since 2003.
Great example of the issue many are having with $BTU. Management's clear optimism every earnings call about how well the Centurion restart is going only to be rugpulled every earnings release with geological issues, reduced guidance, and more optimism of a cheap fix is problematic

$BTU management doesn't have feelings. Also don't feel it in their wallets as they own hardly any stock... The annual rug pull and I was there to witness it. 3x a charm etc.

Jon Ossoff could win 40 states in 2028 including South Carolina, Kentucky and Mississippi.
Democrats would be crazy to even think about anyone else.
Clear the field and let him work

$RIG 3Q Adj EBITDA $313mm vs est ~$298mm
VAL merger received all reg approvals; closing expected Dec 1. $200mm/yr synergies reaffirmed.
Wide prelim 2027 EBITDA range; $1.3B midpoint is ~8% below consensus. Good contracting tho perhaps some regional rig moves could be having an impact? RIG has done well in past year managing costs.
Cost and efficiency gains from VAL merger will be key to realize beginning in 2027 - Noble realized Diamond synergies within ~1 year but RIG didn't provide guidance.
Oil prices not directly driving demand b/c its mostly in spot market movements, similar to Noble's comments last week. Rig demand is tied to specific projects which are long-cycle investments -- Supply and project-specific Demand are the drivers of utilization and dayrates.
Agree with the positive commentary on West Africa market.
On the macro, a key to rig market will be oil majors focusing more on reserve replacement. Oil majors remaining capital disciplined although as their discretionary cash flows grow, capital budgets expected to grow for 2027 and they are talking more about exploration which is a step in the right direction. Will require some exploration and appraisal success turning into development but there are many prospects in deepwater.
We go thru this every week and traders/Algos still fall for it
BREAKING: Iran directly rejects today's reports of a US-Iran deal breakthrough, saying "no new developments have occurred in this regard."
Oil prices crashed nearly 8% today based on the false claim of a breakthrough.
Iran says "definitely no new events or actions will take place" until the US fulfils all of Iran's 7 conditions.
Wall Street Sell side research is overrated, short-term oriented, and not particularly useful for long-term business analysis and investing.

ExxonMobil and Chevron have warned that the diesel crunch is here to stay, as the US oil majors reported combined third-quarter profits of $25.3bn on soaring refining margins caused by Donald Trumpβs Iran war. American oil groups have benefited after attacks in the Middle East and Russia knocked out refining facilities and created a supply shortage resulting in record-high petrol, diesel and jet fuel prices.
