BREAKING: Caring Majority Rising is proud to announce our 2026 Candidates Who Care endorsement slate! We are standing behind these candidates because they understand what is at stake for our members and for the millions of New Yorkers who depend on home care. These 46 incumbents and challengers have committed to building a home care system that works for the people who depend on it, not Wall Street and private equity. They have committed to fighting for fair pay for home care workers, for real oversight of how Medicaid dollars are spent, and for removing corporate middlemen from a system that should exist to serve people, not maximize profits. Our endorsement means that these candidates have earned the trust of home care workers, older and disabled New Yorkers, and family caregivers to deliver a New York that truly prioritizes care over profits. We are proud to stand behind candidates who recognize that New Yorkers deserve Care Not Corruption – let’s get these champions elected! We're the Caring Majority, and we're ready to win big this year! This weekend, 80+ Caring Majority leaders joined in Albany and virtually for our annual grassroots member leader retreat – it was a huge success! We left with a shared understanding of what we're fighting for, the landscape we're fighting in, and a plan for building power across New York so we can win a home care system that works for us, not for corporations.

.@NYHealthCommish article in @EMPIREREPORTNY is a joke. Here's a small sampling of the "results" delivered by NY's private equity takeover of CDPAP. Merely a recent sampling of HUNDREDS OF SCREENSHOTS of this nature. Missed paychecks. Dead-end phone lines. Lost care. Unless “delivering results” means at least 150k Personal Assistants and 90k Consumers exiting the CDPAP program, McDonald’s claims are a LIE. How is PPL still getting away with this? @NYGovPress @HealthNYGov @gr_ashford @TUCapCon @GovKathyHochul @SamMellins @InsideCityHall @MelissaRusso4NY @KatelynCordero @clewisreports @poozer87 More below ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️

Valerie’s bank account is in the red, and her care workers are struggling. This insufferable heckler wants to defend the right to “6, 7, 8, 9, 10 homes in this city!” without sharing the wealth. This is precisely why we must defend the pied-a-terre tax & continue to #TaxTheRich !

The Trump Admin's termination of TPS for Haitian immigrants is cruel and harmful on many levels. Among them: fraying our already-crumbling care infrastructure. "Immigrants make up 30% of the country’s direct care workers.. And that share is especially high in NY state, where the study found 60% of direct care workers are immigrants." gothamist.com/news/loss-of-h…

"Dealing with PPL has been a chaotic, stress-filled mess. They lose paperwork repeatedly. They don’t get back to you. Their technology is loaded with glitches. [My caregiver] has had to squeak by, waiting for pay that only arrives because we are such bulldogs about it. What we need is a return to the original intent of CDPAP. Run by responsible non-profits, with input from disabled people themselves." citylimits.org/opinion-fixin…

"Lawmakers seem to forget that, along with death and taxes, disability is a certainty in life." –Caring Majority Organizer, @Whlchrbeast, on the Trump DOJ Olmstead memo ICYMI, this memo questions the hard-won right for people with disabilities to live in the community. VICTORY! CDPAP workers won preliminary approval for a $162 million wage-and-hour class action settlement for downstate workers. Our voices were heard – Caring Majority’s organizing over the last 2 years has put a spotlight on the pay and benefits issues and collective injustice CDPAP workers have faced. Our movement of workers, consumers, and family caregivers has spoken out on the harms of the CDPAP transition, organizing each other and ensuring our stories were heard across the media and internet. As a result, labor lawyers at @LegalAidNYC and @katzbanks took notice and looked into the wage issues themselves. Four personal assistants—Philip Calderon, Farshad Pinchasi, Allison Fields, and Dana Folgar—sued PPL on behalf of themselves and others, alleging that PPL violated state and federal law by, among other things, failing to pay them accurately and on time, and by providing benefits that did not comply with the New York Home Care Worker Wage Parity Act. We are proud to share the news that a $162 million settlement has almost been reached in their lawsuit with PPL & approx. 200k downstate CDPAP workers will be eligible for compensation (eligible personal assistants do not need to take any action now – they will receive formal notice of the settlement via email and text message). We have invited the legal team to join us for a PPL Settlement Teach-In w/ Legal Team to share more details about the settlement and answer questions people may have. RSVP here: actionnetwork.org/events/ppl… We’re celebrating this win, and we will continue to fight to restore choice to CDPAP and win lasting justice for workers. Onward!
