The number of insects has plunged by half in many places around the world. bbc.com/news/science-environ…

I hoped I'd never see this headline in my lifetime, however I've been a witness for 25 years. A student recently asked me how I stay positive? I can only say, I try to stay present.

How do I know if something is *actually* commercially compostable and not #greenwashed? Look for the word "compostable" along with logos from accredited organizations. While packaging that says "biodegradable" or "made from plants" may seem compostable, it's not. #Envir400

Here is my full speech at the #COP26 World Leaders Summit Opening Ceremony with a key message from Earth to COP: "Open your hearts"!
The youth voices at the World Leaders Summit will probably get the least coverage! So I'll upload them here! Share widely!

Have you ever seen a #nudibranch fluoresce like this!? I imagine it's some sort of #algae and there is some symbiosis there but its really pretty! Especially the gills. It was huge too! bigger than my hand. Possibly a sea lemon? Doris pseudoagus?

More than 70% of all acres burned in Washington in 2020 were from fires started over Labor Day weekend last year.
Do your part to prevent us from repeating history. Skip the outdoor fire this weekend.

Experiencing all this flooding in NYC right now and thinking about all the politicians who told me that pursuing a Green New Deal to adapt our nat’l infrastructure to climate change is “unrealistic” & “too expensive.”
As if doing too little is the responsible, adult thing to do?

So happy to see this paper finally published! We demonstrate that drivers of #seagrass #bluecarbon differ across regions and geomorphologies.🌱🌱 One of the outcomes of my stay at @CMER_ECU working with amazing researchers 8)🙂💙 shorturl.at/grw57
During my #POEcap experience I gathered some information for my capstone from @ProjectSeagrass ! They have some good digestible sources for #seagrass info! #ENVIR492
This was a good source I had found for my #POEcap synthesis! Looking at #topdown control in seagrass #conservation #ENVIR492 pnas.org/content/pnas/110/38…
Giving my #POEcap host organization @ISeagrass a shout out for all their hard work they are doing in the effort to raise more #seagrass awareness and taking their time to assess the risk of extinction for #seagrassspecies globally!!
Y'all I'm determined to finish this #ENV492 twitter assignment today so be prepared for a spam of tweets😂
Looking back on my #POEcap experience some advice I would give to others going through the experience is to not be afraid to ask #questions !! I literally called @pseanmc on his cell phone 😂😂 he's truly seen it all so don't be afraid to tell him when you're confused
