I hoped I'd never see this headline in my lifetime, however I've been a witness for 25 years. A student recently asked me how I stay positive? I can only say, I try to stay present.

How do I know if something is *actually* commercially compostable and not #greenwashed? Look for the word "compostable" along with logos from accredited organizations. While packaging that says "biodegradable" or "made from plants" may seem compostable, it's not. #Envir400

Have you ever seen a #nudibranch fluoresce like this!? I imagine it's some sort of #algae and there is some symbiosis there but its really pretty! Especially the gills. It was huge too! bigger than my hand. Possibly a sea lemon? Doris pseudoagus?

More than 70% of all acres burned in Washington in 2020 were from fires started over Labor Day weekend last year.
Do your part to prevent us from repeating history. Skip the outdoor fire this weekend.

Experiencing all this flooding in NYC right now and thinking about all the politicians who told me that pursuing a Green New Deal to adapt our nat’l infrastructure to climate change is “unrealistic” & “too expensive.”

Just talked about this during my faculty advisor meeting today, it’s important to acknowledge how much everything sucks right now and to adjust our personal expectations (“should”) to the reality of living in a horrific and ongoing pandemic. We’re doing our best #ENVIR491
