On this Day in 1988.. That incredible triumvirate of Barnes, Beardsley & Aldridge link up where Aldo scores a great goal in the 2-1 victory over Wimbledon in the Charity Shield at Wembley. #LFC

Sums up why football fans had such a powerful bond with this generation of working-class players who genuinely felt privileged to be getting paid for doing something they loved. RIP Joey x
Rest in peace, Joey Jones.

Insane how desensitised we’re becoming to these daily headlines and how it’s just accepted now. Horrendous.

The late Tony Gubba was a fantastic commentator. So here’s 100 seconds of him describing goals with his trademark “Ohh!” reaction…

TELLY GOLD: Des Lynam, voice like a pair of silk pyjamas, recites Rudyard Kipling after the 1998 World Cup Final. Splendid stuff.

Heartbreaking news about Diogo Jota and his brother André. All our thoughts are with their family, friends and loved ones at this devastating time. Two lives lost far too soon. Rest in peace. YNWA ❤️

🗣️ Klopp: "Club World Cup is the worst idea ever implemented in football. People who have never had anything to do with day-to-day business are coming up with ideas. I fear that next season players will suffer injuries they've never had before. If not, then it'll happen at the World Cup or afterwards."

Just like Iraq, the government is doing everything it can to shield itself from scrutiny. Just like Iraq, it will not succeed in its efforts to hide the truth. We will expose the full scale of UK complicity in genocide, and we will bring about justice for the Palestinian people.
Jeremy Corbyn asks if the deputy PM supports his bill calling for an independent public inquiry into UK involvement with Israeli military operations Angela Rayner says the government "strongly" opposes Israel’s blocking of humanitarian aid #PMQs bbc.in/46ba5CQ

The FBU stands in solidarity with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition volunteers. Israel's blockade of life-saving aid is illegal. The fire engine stocked with PPE and firefighting kit, which FBU members delivered to the West Bank last year, was also detained by Israeli customs. The UK government must step in and end these blockades.

By forcibly intercepting and blocking the Madleen, Israel has once again ignored its legal obligations towards civilians in the occupied Gaza Strip. The crew were unarmed activists and human rights defenders on a humanitarian mission. They must be released immediately and unconditionally. They must also be protected from torture and other ill-treatment. As the occupying power Israel has an international obligation to ensure civilians in Gaza have sufficient and safe access to food, medicine, and other supplies indispensable to their survival. Instead, and as part of its calculated effort to inflict on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life designed to bring about their physical destruction, it has consistently and deliberately impeded the provision of impartial humanitarian assistance for civilians in desperate need. During its voyage over the past few days the Madleen’s mission emerged as a powerful symbol of solidarity with besieged, starved and suffering Palestinians amid persistent international inaction. However, this very mission is also an indictment of the international community’s failure to put an end to Israel’s inhumane blockade. Activists would not have needed to risk their lives had Israel’s allies translated their rhetoric into forceful action to allow aid into Gaza. States must act now or risk complicity in Israel’s grave violations of Palestinians’ rights.
