Thank you CEHURD and all partners and friends of UWOCASO. You made our annual signature event very colorful. We look forward to a very fruitful partnership where we can work together to make cancer care better for all Ugandans.
❝The high cost of cancer care remains a major burden for patients and their families. Through your support, @UWOCASOfficial provides free counselling, patient navigation and, where resources allow, food and transport assistance to patients in need. As we remember those we have lost, stand with those still fighting and celebrate survivors, we must recognise that survivorship also comes with challenges. Many continue to live with treatment side effects, recurrence or metastatic cancer, while caregivers carry significant emotional and financial burdens. We call on @GovUganda to invest in affordable cancer care, diagnostic services and essential medicines. We also urge employers and communities to treat people living with cancer with dignity and reject the stigma and discrimination they face. A cancer diagnosis is burdensome enough. Our first response should be simple: How do we help this person fight? Nobody should face cancer alone. Let us use our voices, positions and resources to support those affected and make screening, treatment and compassionate care accessible to all.” ~ Remarks by Dr Catherine Promise Biira (@CbPromise), Board Chairperson, UWOCASO during the 5th Breast Cancer Awareness Public Dance Workout #MoveForHer #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionSavesLives

In 2001 I gave a young Swiss friend that green kitenge which she has kept for 25 years now. 2 weeks ago, we reconnected after about 12 years of no contact. Now her Swiss husband understands why it's her special ocassions table cloth and why she plays Maddox Sematimba's music!

With our partners @lacor_hospital , we counseled her to restore her hope, but it can't pay school fees or put food on the table. As we celebrate #UWOCASOat20 with DANCE WORKOUT FUNDRAISER, please stand with this mother in Gulu, as you book for your dancing kit. Restore hope,

Rest in Perfect Peace King Oyo! Your humility was profound may all Ugandans draw from your example on how to not to let privilege and power lessen our humanity.
This is how I will remember King Oyo. High in the Rwenzori Mountains. Strong. Steady. Sturdy. Walking through one of the most overwhelmingly beautiful places on earth, in the land he loved and represented. There is something incredibly poignant about watching this video today. A young King climbing the mountains of his home, drawing attention not only to the beauty of Tooro, but to one of Uganda’s greatest treasures. In that moment, he was doing something bigger than himself, showcasing his people, his heritage and his country to the world. This man grew up before our eyes. I remember he had the Guinness record for being the youngest monarch at some point. He carried an extraordinary responsibility with a quiet dignity that sometimes made us forget just how young he was. And now, impossibly, he is gone at just 34. A baby! So this is the image I choose to keep: King Oyo on the Rwenzoris. Strong. Moving forward. Surrounded by the magnificent beauty of home. For Tooro. For Uganda. For all of us. He was here. And Uganda is richer because he was. Rest well, Rest easy, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. Omukama Atulize. Enkuba Etutire.

But if these things are true honestly who will not die of hypertension and heart break in Uganda!? @UWOCASOfficial we are struggling to support patients to raise money to get a cancer treatment. How many cancer deaths would this money have prevented?
