The National Police Chiefs' Council published an update today regarding their review of whether a criminal investigation should be undertaken into the infected blood scandal. The update was that the review is ongoing and no decision has yet been reached.

Can you please ask why @andyburnham has ignored the letters handed into no. 10 from campaigners and trusts regarding the infected blood scandal.

Radio silence from @andyburnham the man who had a lot to say at the Infected Blood Inquiry has still not replied to letters….
Haemophilia the governments dirty word…. The secret they are trying to hide.
HCV haemophiliacs are not the same as a whole blood transfusion victim.
No haemophiliac has been compensated yet for the negligence of our government. They knew the risks Sir Brian concluded this was #NotAnAccident the data was out there regarding factor. The HCV risk was 100% within the plasma pool. But they still went ahead and gave it to virgin haemophiliacs who went in for mild ailments…. They gave them a life sentence and have not recognised this within the scheme. We are not the same.
No haemophiliacs have been truly compensated for state abuse @andyburnham @jamesmurray_ldn @IBCA_CEO_UK @cazjwheeler @BBCHughPym @HaemoSocUK

You are very quiet when it comes to those you shouted loudly about before you were PM at the infected blood inquiry! What are you going to do about that Mr Prime Minister ???
I want to be honest about how we’ve got to a place where British billpayers are paying some of the highest energy costs in Europe.
Over the past 40 years, we’ve given up control of our necessities, outsourced our essentials and privatised the basics. Water, transport, housing. And of course, energy.
Now the public are paying the price. We haven’t invested in the infrastructure we need. Conflict overseas has pushed up energy costs and it’s hurting our businesses and families.
That’s why we need to take back greater control of our energy system.
This week, I announced Great British Grid, which will speed up connections and push down bills.
We’re also giving mayors, local leaders and communities a stronger role. With funding for People’s Power projects, communities will be able to build solar panels on libraries and town halls, hydro schemes in rivers or publicly owned windfarms on local land.
But it’s not just energy we need stronger public control over. It’s also water, housing, transport and care.
So we’re repealing the ban on public ownership of water companies. We’re building more council homes than this country has seen since the end of World War Two.
We’re reforming the leasehold system so families aren’t squeezed for every penny. And we’re opening up home ownership for first time buyers who can’t rely on the bank of mum and dad.
This week I also announced my determination to introduce a National Care Service, to put people above profit and to give pensioners peace of mind.
Together, we’ll rewire the country from top to bottom so that it works for all people in all places.
That is the only way to put Britain back on the right path. It’s the only way to put power back in people’s hands. And it’s the only way we will bring hope again.

1. MISSING RECORDS SHOULD NOT ERASE THE TRUTH
Many families are trying to prove events that happened decades ago, in a system where records may now be incomplete or missing.
The current scheme itself recognises a balance-of-probabilities approach in some eligibility decisions, including cases where infection occurred after screening was introduced.
So the question is simple:
How do we make sure missing paperwork does not become a barrier to recognising what happened?
A destroyed file does not mean the treatment never happened.
A missing test does not erase a person’s history.
And families should not be expected to produce evidence that no longer exists.
Absence of paperwork is not absence of harm.

No haemophiliac has been recognised for their bodies being used for human research.
This state abuse has been going on for decades! Having copious amounts of blood taken, various testing done in secrecy. Being placed on studies and used as part of secret research projects all known about by @GOVUK and @DHSCgovuk
MP’s and government have turned a blind eye. It is abhorrent to use a child for research. It goes against medical ethics and is an abuse of human rights. There is currently no legislation to ensure this never happens again. At a cost of buying a victims silence which starts as little as £30k you show just how little you think of your public.

3,000+ DEAD. BEREAVED FAMILIES STILL FIGHTING. WHY ISN’T THIS FRONT-PAGE NEWS?
More than 3,000 lives lost in the infected blood scandal.
Yet bereaved families are still battling delays, probate barriers, unequal treatment, compensation rules they believe fail to recognise death properly, and a system many say has compounded their grief.
This is not history.
This is happening now.
Families should not have to fight this hard just to be heard after everything they have already lost.
So where is the sustained national coverage?
Where are the headlines about the families still waiting?
Where is the scrutiny of how the bereaved are being treated?
More than 3,000 deaths should be a headline.
The treatment of those left behind should be a headline too.
Journalists: talk to the families. Ask the difficult questions. Follow what is happening now — not just what happened decades ago.
We will keep speaking until somebody listens.

WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR FAVOURS. WE ARE ASKING FOR FAIRNESS.
Families have waited long enough.
We want:
fair compensation, proper death recognition, respect for unpaid carers, and equal treatment for affected families.
No more shifting goalposts.
No more families feeling talked over.
No more pretending the human cost can be reduced to a formula.
We are families supporting families — and we are not going anywhere.

Seven government compensation schemes. Nearly £15bn committed. £3.5bn actually paid. Six of the seven administered by the bodies that caused the harm. The Public Accounts Committee reported today.
The syllabus: Windrush (Home Office), four Horizon schemes (DBT), LGBT Financial Recognition (MoD), Infected Blood (Cabinet Office). Only the last is independent of the wrongdoer, and even that one — the largest, at an estimated £12.8bn — was designed without the involvement of the infected and the affected.
Windrush launched without caseworking capacity; the Home Office calls its own processing times completely unacceptable and the early scheme a "black box". The MoD launched LGBT redress without the system that would let veterans track claims, promised updates it never sent, and can't write to all eligible veterans because the records are fragmented. It closes in December 2026. Contingency: none.
Then the Post Office.
POL estimated a few hundred applicants to the Historical Shortfall Scheme. 2,417 arrived by the November 2020 deadline, over 10,000 more once it reopened, and, unable to afford what it owed, it stopped processing claims.
Longest claim: 1,395 working days. A fifth of paid claims took over a year. DBT told the Committee it is keen to pay and waiting for full claims — the delay, you see, belongs to the claimants. It now concedes that letting POL run the scheme was, in retrospect, a mistake. Retrospect being a facility that arrives exactly when nothing further can be done with it.
The GLO scheme was co-designed with Sir Alan Bates on the understanding it would not be legalistic. What emerged was unrecognisable. It got "bogged down in lawyers".
Lawyers being the one line item never short of funding.
Post Office billings by Herbert Smith Freehills across all Horizon matters exceed £188m, of which roughly £51m to £72m relates to the Historical Shortfall Scheme alone.
For a body that couldn't afford to pay claimants, the budget was found. Claimants funded their own lawyers, where they could: the Committee heard that awards of around £11,000 without representation rise to around £80,000 with it. Only one side was told the process was too legalistic.
And the rules? The HSS Case Assessment Guidance runs to 218 pages, the Case Assessment Principles to 165. Legal professional privilege claimed over both, in their entirety, and upheld. A state-owned company spent tens of millions on a scheme to compensate people it wrongly pursued, and the principles their claims were judged against remain secret from them. The Tribunal gave "medium weight" to protecting the public purse. Quite.
Of 572 claimants surveyed, 76% found the process distressing or retraumatising, 63% extremely difficult, 53% said the evidence demanded was unreasonable or impossible to obtain — much of it already held by the bodies that harmed them.
Sir Wyn Williams recommended a standing independent redress body. So did the NAO. Government promised a statement by summer 2026. Summer 2026 has been and gone. The Cabinet Office says it would need persuading.
Nothing has been learned. Learning is the output.
