Thanks to some inspiration from @SumRGuy, I finally got around to making a website. I even wrote a small blurb about myself! charalin.carrd.co/#
Next time: an updated reel, or even just a showcase of past works of some kind. Progress! ๐

I have many wonderful @bauzilla stories, and Iโm heartbroken to think we might not have any more. But Iโll share them with you.

This is just another reminder to tell people you care for them while you still can, and to grab life with both hands and live as vibrantly as you can. You only get one chance at this - live and love with all your heart.

Still canโt believe it. Eric Bauza was one of the most talented, kind, compassionate, lovable, giving, and wonderful people Iโve ever known. We worked shoulder to shoulder every week during my most formative years. He married my wife and I. We were some of the first people to hold each otherโs children. We shared our hopes and dreams and watched each other grow, and I witnessed him become the actor, man, and father he always wanted to be. The world will be a dimmer place for his loss. Love you, buddy.

Really enjoying working on this project, I hope anyone willing to help will give consideration! It is a crew call, so though I love my fellow VAs, we need crew! Please help if youโre able and have the desire!
Regarding this call, we are no longer looking for artists; my sole focus is now on editors, composers/songwriters and sound designers, so if you could please RT this, and share around, see if you know anyone who might like this, it'd be mean alot, thanks!

Talked with a couple people from my D&D group and got the greenlight to start scripting an audio drama based on our 4 year gaming session. They're going to be my proofreaders, and once it's all written, I can start casting. I'm excited to start work on my first audio drama!

I think one of the most meaningful things you can do with your life is become somebody who would make your younger self feel safe. Safe to tell the truth. Safe to make mistakes. Safe to be fully human without wondering if one wrong move will change how deeply you're loved.

Always prioritize your health over everything else. ๐ฉท
Taking time for yourself isnโt selfish, especially when you need it. You only get one body, so take care of it, listen to what it needs, and give yourself the care you deserve!

I think there's something important about Christians being genuinely, visibly passionate about things like gaming, art, filmmaking, and music.
Sharing that joy with the world is an important part of your witnessโand probably tells the world more about God than your passion for what you oppose.

I had an audio quality consult where they said: "I've looked around a lot, searched, and asked and I can't find anything that clearly defines 'broadcast quality' and whatever is written out is never the same or agreed on"
let's talk about that
I have edited in-studio recordings for games animations and commercials and there is very little consistency across each, even within the same project. noise floor, loudness, boxiness, background traffic and airplanes, some run through more hardware than others, ass internet... in-studio
that makes it difficult to get a straight answer. Some studios have their own standards and I've even seen it change circumstantially. I imagine clients can influence that. At best it's just case by case and subjective. At worst it's a deliberately moving goal post
It takes me :10 to reduce a normal noise floor, and I'm asked to do it anyways when I'm a production engineer so that's kind of a bs factor. and it takes me another :20 to eq different recordings to sound nearly identical. It's so easy I mean that.
The hardest thing to do without detection is removing background noises during a take, and removing reflections cleanly. not impossible but not always possible and potentially expensive to do pickups or recast. and sometimes nobody hears it until after the audio is processed
When all of that comes out to a group high-five despite those hurdles, I have still found the source audio to usually sound muffled [recorded in too small of an over treated space], with a
๐พ noise floor sitting as high as -65dB and only ever as low as -70dB with zero reflections
that's about as straight of an answer as you're going to get across the board. don't take my word for it though, pay attention to where you do and dont get a straight answer from if you ask.
This is exactly why I started 'Iridescent Audio' and why I offer 'Help Your Audio'. Not everyone is an engineer, but you do have reasonable access to one

People give what they carry inside. Kind people include. Mature people communicate. Healed people set boundaries. Secure people celebrate others. The way people treat you is often a reflection of what lives within them, not a measure of your worth.
