AFRICAN CULTURE What the British found when they arrived in Nigeria. “All or southern Nigeria was a land of oppression, terror & fiendish cruelty, of slave raids, slavery, juju, human sacrifice & cannibalism”. They called it the city of blood. Hundreds of people were tortured to death regularly in Juju rituals. These blood stained orgies went on for centuries & were only halted in 1897 when the British captured the city. The British stopped innocent Africans from being tortured, sacrificed & killed. One man who entered the city in the British expedition gave this description: “Altars covered with stream of dried human blood, the stench of which was awful, huge pits, forty to fifty feet deep, were found filled with human bodies, dead & dying & few wretched captives were rescued alive by the British. Sacrificial trees on which were the corpses of the latest victims everywhere, on each path, were newly sacrificed corpses. Melbourne council buries Wombat’s alive because they couldn’t tell the difference between a Wombat burrow & Rabbit burrow. Our local Wildlife Rescuers noticed that the Womats weren’t active & checked the burrows & they had all been sealed. They desperately dug them open & said it smelt like death. Only 2 have been recovered 😔 We have so many Wildlife Rescuers & Wildlife Orgs but the council never reach out, don’t know what they are doing & constantly harm & kill our local Wildlife. Rescuers are always having to pick up the pieces from their absolute incompetence. The stories I could tell. Maybe another time. The public would be truly horrified if they knew what our Councils & Gov are doing & have done to our native Wildlife.
