By that logic, should we also ban depictions of violence, drug use & other dangerous behaviour in films & TV shows, in case young people come to see them as normal?
This increasingly nanny approach is shocking coming from a Liberal MP.
Replying to @CarolineVoaden @SJRichmond89
The fact it is now so common in porn means boys and young men are seeing it regularly and think it’s normal - which leads to girls being expected to go along with it.
For the young woman I know who thought she was going to die, there was nothing playful about it at all

Under the UK's new law, someone who lawfully purchased consensually produced adult content in 2025 could face criminal liability for keeping the same content after November 6, 2026, even if they bought it directly from the performers depicted. The maximum penalty is two years' imprisonment.
Adults producing content with other consenting adults and selling it to consenting adults is now a crime in the UK if the content is not approved by the paternalistic government.
The parliamentary record identifies several important lobbying organizations:
End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW)
UK Feminista
Centre to End All Sexual Exploitation (CEASE)
CARE (Christian Action Research and Education)
As usual, the radical feminist organizations have colluded with the Christian right to control what consenting adults buy from other consenting adults to watch in their own homes.
Well done.

👏 Brilliant from Sophy Ridge as she told the Chancellor to his face: your budget does NOTHING.
The Chancellor walked in expecting soft questions on @RidgeandFrost about “change”. What he got was a direct challenge over the gap between the big promises and the empty budget he just delivered. Sophy didn’t let him hide behind spin for a second:
“When Andy Burnham came in he promised change, not just any change, big change! He promised to end 40 years of neo-liberalism. Don’t take this the wrong way, but that wasn’t a budget to end 40 years of neo-liberalism, right?”
Chancellor: “I would say that is wrong.”
He claimed he’d set out decisions that would change Britain’s energy system and market for good.
Sophy: “Like what?”
Chancellor: “Like an end to levies on household bills.”
She cut him off: “Come on! You’ve been talking about nationalisation of our utilities and ending 40 years of Thatcherism.”
Chancellor: “He’s talking about bringing energy bills down and in line with Europe.”
Sophy wasn’t having it: “You’re talking about levies on bills, this is a different order of magnitude.”
Then the line that finished him: “Give me one thing in this budget that Rachel Reeves wouldn’t have done as chancellor?”
He had nothing.
This is a big nothing burger. Starmer 2.0. No fundamental change.
Absolutely nothing in there for the working men and women who get up and graft all day for nothing. Nothing to incentivise work. Nothing to reward effort over dependency.
Is it any wonder people are happy to sit on their backsides and get paid by the state? This government shows no sign at all of addressing that.
They promised to end 40 years of the status quo. They delivered more of it.

In family court, fathers are granted rights. The right to contact, the right to equal time, the right to be promoted to their children.
Mothers are given responsibilities.
The responsibility to facilitate contact.
The responsibility to protect the children.
The responsibility to "promote" him.
The responsibility to make it all work or be blamed when it doesn’t.
This isn’t a level playing field.

Govt wrong to keep the Plan 2 student loan threshold frozen at £29,385 for three years.
This means more graduates on low incomes paying a 37% marginal tax rate and no effort to repair a breach of trust.

At least we have £2 buses, @andyburnham, meanwhile the frozen Student Loan thresholds, and frozen income tax thresholds continue.
More and more of our income is lost to fiscal drag, and what money is left no longer goes as far due to inflation and the cost of living
He has sat down. So that must mean
1. Income tax thresholds frozen still
2. Student loan Plan 2 threshold still to be frozen in April
We will check now, but unless you hear, no news here, fiscal drag (and double fiscal drag for plan 2 students) stays.

UK new minimum wage: £27,456 per year.
Higher-rate tax bracket: £50,270.
1.8x difference.
In 1997 there was a 5x difference.
Mind boggling.

Holding down staff pay 'to protect the service' is no different from introducing a special NHS tax that's only paid by NHS employees.
We do not have a unique responsibility to fund the healthcare system. It falls on everyone, and SHOULD fall fairly.
Pay rise above 2.4% would hit elective targets, DHSC warns ift.tt/dbsLyV3

Basically...what the powers that be are saying is this.
'We can't afford the NHS. And to sustain it, you, staff, need to take a below inflation pay-rise aka a cut.'
Now- to improve work productivity, you need a couple of other things- beyond pay.
Good working conditions, less discrimination
The NHS can't offer any of the above.
And wonders why the NHS isn't productive.
Workforce planning is an ethereal thing in the UK health care system.
So we are where we are.

Those who want a large welfare system like we have now- do you not realise it exists because of those paying huge amounts of taxes.
Remove taxpayers and welfare would not exist!
So why do people demonise the wealthy or those who are ambitious on slightly higher salaries.
£50-100k may sound like a lot, but when you break it down, add a mortgage and children to the mix with ZERO government help, it’s peanuts! (London and within 20 miles of London)

This is a very misleading headline from The Telegraph . Family court findings of the same abuse still stay secret, even though the same crime would now get a domestic abuser 'named and shamed.'
Criminal judges must now say in open court when an offence involves domestic abuse and put that on the record for police, probation and prisons for future monitoring purposes. But a family judge can find the same conduct, and it stays inside private proceedings.

Today's pensioners didn't fund a triple locked state pension for their parents or grandparents - it was introduced in 2012. Yet they want MORE from young people with higher state pension ages, student debt, unaffordable housing, no DB pensions, no jobs - and still they complain.
By 2050 pensioners will be £5,550 a year worse off after the abolition of the triple lock.
Andy Burnham said he would address the cost of living crisis.
In reality he is cutting pensions to pay for the war drive.

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead.
You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement.
I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible.
But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier.
Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want.
Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well.
So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it.
If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.
