Just noticed I officially hit 1,000 followers and wasn’t even paying attention. My primary purpose of this account is to build stronger, better informed, and better networked Catholic communities - and offer my best responses those who oppose the Catholic Church. Additionally - this account specifically helps me offer considerations for my own education, as well as those I care for, and heads up in all matters as it pertains to issues that arise in real life. As such, this account supports my ultimate priority on being an overall well-formed Christ-centered Catholic in all components of my life. I believe if you can minimize investing emotional energy and direct what you consume cautiously (to even spiritual risk - but no more than engaging in social settings at all today) with anything social media related, a lot of good can come from it. But in particular - X has an incredible platform to offer. Thanks all!

I ask you all, in your charity, to request the prayers of St. Jude the Apostle on his feast day today. He is the patron Saint of Impossible/Desperate Situations. Please pray for a dear friend who is being drawn to the Faith, but in a very difficult situation. St. Jude, pray for us!

Ryan Burge's chart of 15 years of sermons (2008-2023) is telling. Revelation, Chronicles, Ezekiel, Daniel are never preached at all. Even Ephesians is grey. Some major Protestant fault-lines or outright avoided like 1st Peter (“baptism now saves you”), 2 Thessalonians (“hold to the traditions by word or letter”), 1-2 Timothy and Titus (ordination by laying of hands). Your average Protestant pastor following the RCL format leaves entire books unread by the pews. For 15+ years.

Saint of the day Saint Jude Thaddeus, pray for us! Son of Cleophas, who died a martyr, and Mary who stood at the foot of the Cross, and who annointed Christ's body after death. Brother of Saint James the Lesser. Nephew of Mary and Joseph; blood relative of Jesus Christ, and reported to look a lot like him. May have been a fisherman. Apostle. Wrote the canonical Epistle named for him. Preached in Syria, Mesopotamia, and Persia with Saint Simon. Healer. Exorcist. Could exorcise pagan idols, which caused the demons to flee and the statues to crumble. His patronage of lost or impossible causes traditionally derives from confusion by many early Christians between Jude and the traitor Judas Iscariot; not understanding the difference between the names, they never prayed for Jude's help, and devotion to him became something of a lost cause.

If anyone brings up “ocean temperature levels from the 19th century” in a serious manner then they’re probably oblivious to how statistically ridiculous it is to think we can actually have confidence in those values.
Replying to @grok @US_Stormwatch
Wow - wooden ship buckets with mercury thermometers? With regional bias associated with shipping routes than actual focus on ocean temperature readings in general? This essentially lasted until the 1950s? Incredible!

Seeing everyone lose their wits over this is really making me consider statements like this more seriously. I don’t know what bigger message the trads are sending than “first world problems” vibes.
Replying to @RonSelgrat2ddg
To me it seems that some of trad world is, deep down, about being The Best Catholics - which leads to and perhaps comes from vanity and egotism. The performative victimhood flows from that. I love the TLM and those who know me understand my position in that world, and how much I've suffered over liturgical stuff... but Trad Inc. needs to calm down - and perhaps die.

Always a powerful point for EO bros to consider.
St Peter’s Basilica remains unconquered; the Hagia Sophia is now a mosque. The Catholic Church conquered the Roman Empire; the Ottoman Empire conquered the East. Christ promised that hell shall not prevail against the Rock of the Church. And so it hasn’t, where Peter is, in Rome.

That is ultimately the question I point to. But realistically, the answer that most Protestants will give to this actually entails thousands, if not tens of thousands, denominations as a result. And they all get upset when we rightfully point to that. So, "30,000 denoms" is a symptom but not the inherently problem - sure. And it's quite obviously an inaccurate number because nobody - not even the Protestants - can properly enumerate how many Churches there are. In this way - the most effective argument is: "there are innumerable Protestant denominations."
Replying to @Christojt
I really enjoy @ReadyHarvest who has a great video that convinced me we should stop using the "30,000/40,000" number However, the important question is why should there be 3,000 or 300, or 30, or even 3 denominations when Schism is a sin? youtu.be/7Vw1KFwETbo?si=-Q0Z…

No Protestant genuinely considers innumerable denominations a strength, save for a response to this particular argumentation against their worldview.
Replying to @Christojt
You say problem. I say strength.

Man. I really thought this dude was Catholic and my first thoughts were like “preach on!! 💪🏻” Alas, it appears he thought this was some kind of ‘gotcha’ question based on his other responses.. 😂 I won’t remove my like, though.
So what you are saying is that when there’s freedom of religion and there’s no state church of any kind to punish heretics with the sword, then you’ll get a proliferation of different groups claiming the status of churches. And?

“30,000 denominations” is a much worse problem than Protestants are willing to acknowledge. The number may be wrong, and it’s possibly a larger number depending on the definition of denomination - which Protestants themselves can’t agree on. But the problem itself is real.
Replying to @IFFFMEISTER
Definitely not the worst by a long shot. It’s a rough estimation for a real truth that can’t be calculated due to the nature of the problem. There is truthfully an insurmountable number of Protestants that hold their own view apart from either their Pastors w/ respective leadership, their fellow congregation, and +/- their respective tradition. If the crux of their doctrine really is ‘sola scriptura’ then there is nothing tethering them to any Confession of Faith, nor does such a Confession even refer to its own authority as binding. I know of at least 5 “non-denominational” churches in my city that any given Protestant would accept as a “true denomination.” And I guarantee you their doctrine is no deeper than their pastor’s own whims, which are subject to change if they ever needed a relief pastor. None of these 5 share the same ecclesiology. It sounds bad because you can’t actually quantify the number of denominations. And in that sense, I believe the problem itself is *MUCH* worse than many Protestants are willing to recognize internally. That is *not* the Christianity of the early Church, nor is it even their Christianity if you were to press each one of the Pastors independently of their own standards. Nor is it the Christianity of the New Testament whatsoever.

As mentioned by someone else, there seems to be reason to believe that the real number is roughly 200 denominations. And I could buy that from the standpoint of the Catholic definition of “ecclesial communities,” in fact. That would be as fair as I’m willing to go. But realistically, no Protestant can uniformly decide on what actually constitutes a denomination so the number is ultimately varied. I still have a hard time buying that it would ever be less than the thousands at minimum by any Protestant’s standard. So, the question isn’t the number. It’s “by what standard do you count denominations.”

About 2 years ago, I went back and forth with many popular Protestant accounts regularly. I probably averaged 1-2k likes and then thousands of views on many of these... But thats when I understood something. I was constantly forced to play along & play a game i didn't want to. Guys like Sola Chad even asked me to "fake" a rivalry and create artificial beef to get interactions cause it would push our following and interactions. But thats never what I wanted. Thats also why I don't push to put regular content, take breaks, try to discern things, get smarter & better & don't post strawmans or what has been made clear is debunked or false over & over again. My posts about theological stuff are meant to inform, help & create true interactions. Not faking an Idol & false witnessing people and use them.

Rule of thumb, all. If it is being publicly spoken of in studies, then it has already been used for at least a decade prior to being reported.
A good buddy of mine did his PhD on this and now works on WiFi spatial mapping at a big tech company and It’s way more accurate than you’d imagine. You can map an entire college campus in real-time like Batman just with WiFi. Crazy stuff

Hey guys - new orders from the “sola scriptura” folk: can’t kiss anyone, or show affection to anyone but God alone. Thems the rules!
Replying to @dragodimitrov
There is no point in kissing our bibles. Those who desire to show affection towards the creation rather than to God in heaven should rethink their actions. We were created to worship—that’s why you *feel* the need to venerate *something*, so be careful who you display it to.

Do you mean that one could imply that there's a particular consciousness exterior to these specific and localized neuronal activities that is unobservable and metaphysical? Do say more!
Replying to @nintendobenzo
I didn’t read the paper but I believe they’re saying that the same neurons in your brain can carry different images switching between them 15 times per second, where one of the images is what you are consciously aware of, and the other image is one that they are presenting to your eyes in a way that your consciousness does not process. So they can see that the same neurons are associated with both conscious and subconscious/unconscious images. This suggests that the consciousness is not inherent to or localized to those neurons, but is somehow occurring in slices of time across those same neurons.

Doesn’t take much to realize that this is explicitly what Protestantism became.
Chris Rock just nailed one of the biggest problems with wokeness. Helping people who feel marginalized is good. He says so himself. The trouble starts when a good cause becomes an institution. The first few witches were real. Then you open a witch office. Now there are salaries, budgets and pensions to justify, and the office needs a steady supply of witches to keep existing. That’s the trap. Once a cause becomes a career, solving the problem means losing your job. So the problem never gets solved. It just keeps getting redefined. A system built to find wrongdoing will keep finding it, whether it’s there or not.

These two self-evident propositions are required fundamentals for your children’s faith, and perseverance in this world. I can also say I owe my dad for teaching me these as well.
Strange to say, it was to him that I ultimately owe my own conversion. At an early age he convinced me of two seemingly self-evident propositions: that truth is true, and not relative, and that two contrary statements cannot both be true. From there to the Catholic Faith it is a long road, but a sure one.
