FUN FACT: Rogue is from 1980, but the term "roguelike" was coined only in 1993. It started as a discussion at Usenet, from a user proposing to group together talk on games like Rogue, Moria, Angband & Nethack. This caused a lot of drama, and some arguments are rather familiar:
