The conditions allowing for the safe return of Ms. Machado to Venezuela is the direct result of the U.S. supported reconciliation talks which has already seen hundreds of political prisoners freed and hundreds of political opposition figures return from exile.
The United States expects the freedoms of all sectors of Venezuelan politics to continue to be respected. Likewise, we expect all political actors to support these talks which represent the best chance Venezuela has had in thirty years to peacefully achieve not just a free and fair election but an enduring democracy.

Operation URGENT FURY was the operation name for the invasion of Grenada, which occurred 43 years ago today, on 25 October 1983. I was part of the rescue force (B Squadron) to free the Grenadian political prisoners being held in Richmond Hill Prison (today known as His Majesty's Prisons). In six Blackhawk helicopters, we took a lot of Cuban and Grenadian fire at the prison. Seventeen of the rescue force were wounded, eight 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment crew were wounded, and the pilot of helicopter number four CPT Keith J. Lucas was mortally wounded and number four crashed. We were hit by two ZSU-23-2s that were mounted on top of Fort Frederick. The sky was filled with 23mm, 12.7mm, and 7.62mm ammunition directed at us. We freed the Grenadians from a Marxist coup. Today in Grenada, the 25th of October is known as Thanksgiving Day, a national public holiday, which celebrates the United States helping to free Grenada. Yesterday, I was shopping at a local Goodwill with my teenage son, looking for a Halloween costume, when I was confronted by an angry man who recognized me from my reporting. Wait until you hear what he was mad about.
While my son was in the dressing room, this man approached me, got right in my face and said, “Oh, you’re that person that says kids are being transed in the schools. That’s a lie!”
He was raising his voice, getting increasingly aggressive and refusing to back off when I asked him to multiple times.
I immediately started calling for my teenage son, who happens to be a big football player because at this point, mama needed some backup.
My son came bursting out of the dressing room ready to protect his mama, and suddenly this coward wasn’t so brave anymore. The beta male made his way toward the exit while the entire store just stood there with their mouths open and staring.
For those who don’t know, I’ve written numerous pieces in the San Diego Union-Tribune and @iwfeatures about lawsuits challenging California’s policies regarding unlawful student “gender support plans” and schools deliberately changing student’s names and gender and deliberately hiding it from their parents.
This man was apparently so angry about my reporting that he thought it was perfectly acceptable to confront and intimidate a woman shopping with her child.
I’m not going to stop reporting on the indoctrination in California’s public schools because some angry man who thinks he can intimidate me.
And one more thing to beta males. You might want to think twice before confronting a mama whose teenage son is a defensive lineman and would anything to protect his mama.

MP Materials sits on what Ross Perot Jr. calls "the Saudi Arabia of rare earth" in California. Jim Litinsky bought the company out of bankruptcy and wanted to start making magnets too.
Ross brought him to Alliance in Fort Worth, and at the groundbreaking for the first magnet facility, Jim told him:
