The original Tacoma Narrows Bridge failed dramatically in a windstorm #OTD in 1940, just 4 months after opening. The lessons in aerodynamics learned from this failure generated new knowledge necessary to build safe, efficient and stable suspension bridges worldwide. Today’s ruling is a HUGE win for Georgia voters and the rule of law. The rejection of the MAGA Election Board's unconstitutional rule changes sends a strong message: Our elections cannot be manipulated to serve partisan interests.
The Georgia Supreme Court just unanimously denied the Republican Party’s attempt to reinstate State Election Board rules for an election night ballot count and a “reasonable inquiry” requirement before certifying results. #gapol ajc.com/politics/georgia-sup…

JUST IN: Entire home seen floating away in Asheville, North Carolina as tropical storm Helene demolishes the state. The situation is so bad that a 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. curfew is now in effect. The city is facing what experts are calling a 1 in 1000-year event with the French Broad River reaching over 25 feet, breaking the July 16, 1916 record of 23.1 feet. Video: @ABC11_WTVD

(UPDATE) TVA's River Forecast Center has activated a Condition Red Warning for an Imminent Breach at Nolichucky Dam in Greene Co., TN. The breach could occur at any time due to extreme rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Helene, which is causing record river levels around the region. Potentially life-threatening flooding can occur as far downstream as Douglas Reservoir. Local county emergency management officials are coordinating evacuations as appropriate. Please stay alert for notices from your local EMA and heed all warnings.
