This is a really poignant, honest & brave documentary. Their vulnerability & connection is a beautiful thing to witness. Being human is intrinsically messy, painful & full of anxiety. The best way through is to open, brave & vulnerable & attempt to accept & embrace it all

You don't see (good) therapists pushing life-hacks or self-help remedies because we've come to grips with the fact that there is no silver bullet, no fast and easy way through this. Life's hard and we're not about to make empty promises.

As we engage in conversations about polarising and complex issues, I find it useful for all parties to know what kind of conversation they're in. I've made this table as a useful way to check that. What kind of conversations do you find yourself in?

Insofar as psychotherapy places high value on meaningful relationships, the cultivation of critical socio-psycho thought, the privileging of human flourishing over economic gain, & the rise of humanistic over utilitarian values, it's a decidedly political & anti-neoliberal affair

A depression can change only if we are able to endure and accept it. We can change nothing if we haven't accepted it. If we resist, it will only get worse. In accepting the depression, we are no longer able to hold the whole world responsible for it, and then it can change.~Jung

🧵No survivor of sexual violence should have to feel ashamed of what happened to them. The less shame; the easier to access support; the more support; the more effective the healing process. My sentiment in a nutshell; if as therapists we are brave enough to speak up about…
