One of Coach Trent’s former players still checks in with him about basketball, school and life. They built that relationship here at Chipola, and it’s continued. That’s a pretty cool part of coaching.

Live this!!! 🎯💯
Team standards beat team rules. Three I’d write on day one: 1. Be on time (15 minutes early) 2. Do what's right (if you can't do it in front of me or your parents, don't do it) 3. Treat others how you want to be treated (life lesson) These 3 standards help a team, an individual, and a quality life lesson.

I've now seen 2 separate polls and neither of them had @CowleyHoops in the top 25. I guess I just don't know what to look for in the pre season scrimmages online. Not only would I have them in the top 25 I would have them in the top 5. We'll see how this post ages.

Same here coach. Practice is by favorite part! 🎯💯🏀
I love practice. You get to stop it, teach it and let them try it again. Seeing something finally click for a guy is one of my favorite parts of coaching.

So very true!!!! Always learning, always evolving. One of my dad's favorite sayings (he has a bunch of them) was you can't teach what you don't know. Holds true for every sport.
“Sometimes coaches brag about having 20, 30 years of experience but if all you did was the same thing every year and never learned or grew — all you have is 1 year experience repeated 30 times”

Thanks so much Marty. It is such a daunting task, but with God guiding me, my staff and family we will make the very best out of this situation.

Great stuff!!! Not a super great athlete comparatively. Gives to the masses someone they can actually strive to be like.
Most would be excited about seeing SGA and KD going at each other (we were too). However, my son and I were most excited about seeing star rookie Bennett Stirtz check in last night. Stirtz is so smooth, so good, and he publicly gives glory to God while putting his faith in Jesus. He is an incredible role model for children and beyond.

A lot of what I watch is away from the ball. Are you screening, cutting, helping a teammate? There’s plenty to do even when you’re not getting the shots.

Great stuff to study. How do they do what they do, especially the smaller college who may not have length and athleticism to help out as much.

I will say that this is NOT WHAT KEPT ME UP LOLOL. Finding a place and times to practice, have tryouts, have home games just to name a few is what kept me up and continues to keep me awake.
Bruh!! WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE WE DOING?! 😂 There’s NO WAY Philadelphia should’ve been up on the Jaguars with :08 left, but here we are! At some point, somebody has to make a good coaching decision and somebody has to execute. Honestly, I’ll take either one! If you’re gonna let them run it, GET THEM ON THE GROUND! If you’re not, BOOT IT OUT OF THE END ZONE! Under NO circumstances should you do whatever the Eagles just did! 🤦🏾‍♂️😂 The Pivot Sports “What Kept You Up Last Night?” Live now on @youtube #ThePivotSports #FlyEaglesFly #Duuuvaal #Jaguars youtu.be/WjXUdRw5ISQ

Think coaching doesn't make a HUGE difference. Check (talking football right now) Indiana, UCLA, Kentucky, just to name a few over the last few years. These schools were not even thought of, but now they are beyond relevant. Basketball - St Louis, Iowa, South Florida, about to be Providence, New Mexico, Cincinnati just off of the top of my head.

I preach this ALL THE TIME!!!
The biggest mistake a player can make is believing practice doesn't matter because it's not a game. Great players understand that how you practice becomes how you perform under pressure. Your Habits Travel! #WhatWins💯
