.@SawRobertson12 told me one of the best Mike Leach stories I’ve ever heard.
After getting blown out by Bama, Leach walked into the team meeting…
Pulled out The Little Engine That Could.
Read it. Cover to cover. Out loud. To a room full of SEC football players.
“Choo choo choo…”
Only Mike Leach. ⬇️

"If you're going to build a culture, the first thing you have to come to grips with, you're going to have confrontation."

Early in training camp, Ronnie Lott asked to borrow a pencil from "Hacksaw" Reynolds and was refused.
Reynolds told the rookie that he wouldn’t be a success in the league until he brought his own pencil to every meeting, so he better start now.

Dabo Swinney said, "Here's the difference in successful people and unsuccessful people - It either shines you up or it grinds you up."
"It's what you're made of on the inside."
Resilience is your ability to face adversity, endure, and move forward stronger.

Mike Vrabel's first speech to Patriots players has gone viral leaving many fans impressed with his no-BS attitude:
• Leave phones in your bag
• Be on time and don't be late
• Hoods down during meetings
• No maids & valet at the team facility
There is a new culture in New England 👀

Players don’t need sugarcoating.
They need truth tellers.
Spoken with love, belief, and high standards.
The best coaches tell the truth.
Even when it’s hard.

High school coaches need to prioritize creating a positive team culture. The best teams are built on trust, respect, and communication. Players who feel supported and valued will perform at their best. It's more than just Xs and Os on the court.

"God is in control of everything. He makes nations great and destroys them; He puts down one and exalts another. Do you think God is taken by surprise? No, He uses even the actions of rulers for His purposes, but they are still accountable for their own hatred and actions." - Amir Tsarfati

How do I define culture?
1. Culture is what you allow
2. Culture is what you emphasize
3. Culture is every day!
Culture never arrives.
It is a constant fight to uphold the standards that you and team leaders set for your team and program.
