I was today years old when I found out this tool existed. Went into @TractorSupply for carb cleaner and came out with quite possibly the best field maintenance tool of all time. This had to be invented by a baseball coach… @rakogardentool @DuraEdge

I sent this to every hitter I train. (You should do the same.)
It's a phenomenal example of what it actually takes and what it looks like.
Watch it. Save it. Send it to your hitters.
"Outside of catching fly balls...this is our most important skill as an outfielder."
An outfielder who understands game situation, keeps the trail runner in check, and preserves the double play can impact an inning beyond simply fielding the baseball.
Keeping the double play in order may not show up in the highlight reel, but it can have a huge impact on run expectancy and winning baseball games.

Owen Bex (‘27, SC) goes off the scoreboard here for a HR. Tight uphill barrel turn where his 6-3/205 physicality and strength shows at impact. @PG_Uncommitted @PG_Coastal #WWBA

As an Athletic Director, I constantly remind our athletes to embrace hard and embrace adversity because it is coming whether you want it or not.
Life does not promise comfort. It promises challenges. The athletes who grow the most are not the ones who avoid difficult moments, but the ones who face them head on.
Hard builds discipline. Adversity builds character. Failure builds resilience. Those lessons will carry you much further than any trophy, scholarship, or championship ever could.
Don’t run from the struggle. Lean into it. The person you become through adversity is far more valuable than the success you achieve because of it.

As an Athletic Director, you better learn quickly that if you don’t understand your school’s foundation is academics, you will constantly face internal struggles with teachers and other administrators.
At the same time, the best schools also understand that athletics is the front porch of the school. It is often the first thing prospective families see and experience.
When schools intentionally invest in both academics and athletics, everyone benefits. Strong academics build the mission of the school, while strong athletic programs build community, school pride, visibility, and relationships that extend far beyond the playing field.
The schools that truly excel are the ones that stop viewing academics and athletics as competing priorities and instead recognize that they are partners in creating an exceptional student experience.
Great schools don’t choose one over the other. They commit to both.

As an AD, I often hear people say, “Winning is not important.”
I disagree.
Winning is important, but the journey required to become a winner is even more important.
The goal is to maximize an athlete’s talent through adversity while teaching resilience, discipline, and accountability.
Losing should hurt, because standards matter. But every loss should become one step closer to winning.
If we tell athletes winning is not important, we are not preparing them for life.
The pursuit of winning teaches lessons that last far beyond the scoreboard.

“How we do things around here every single day matters.”
Love this message on living up to the “standard” each day. Both as coaches and players! #CWS
