Winning a championship and getting fired are just events. They don't define who you are. The true measure is how you respond to both, and how you choose to write the next chapter. Don't let your toughest moments become your permanent identity. #Mindset #Growth

Make a mistake? Have a “next pitch” mentality! The next pitch is all that matters. Keep your head in the game… odds are you will have a chance to help the team later. Maybe the very next pitch or towards the end of the game. You just never know when the next opportunity will show itself… Baseball rewards those who can stay locked in.

I knew a hitting coach who worked with a few big league teams and he always said he spent more time building confidence than he did talk about approach or mechanics

The at-bat after the strikeout tells you everything about a player. Not the strikeout itself.

What happens to effort when you step out of the gym? If it drops the second you leave, that's compliance, not culture. Culture is what's still there when nobody's watching. Ask your assistants what practice looks like when you're on the phone with an AD. They know. Two lessons from The Blueprint are free right now: Cracks in Culture Warnings and Standards. About nine minutes, plus the Standards page from my MiViS Builder. No card, just your email. coachmays.com/course/free #CoachLife #Cognitecture

Work hard. Be professional. Show respect. We say them every day. Most of us have never actually defined them. If you can't say what "work hard" looks like on a Tuesday in practice, your players are deciding for you. And twelve players will give you twelve definitions. Pick one this week. Write down the behavior you expect. Then teach it. The Standards lesson walks you through it. Two lessons from The Blueprint are free right now: Cracks in Culture Warnings and Standards. 🧱 WALL… OR STEP? You’ve been showing up. Doing the work. Staying disciplined. Then progress stalls, and you start wondering: “Maybe this is as far as I can go.” Before you decide that, change your perspective. What looks like a wall up close may be your next step. I believe CONSISTENCY is more important than INTENSITY. We need both, but daily discipline carries us through the majority of our journey. You can’t replace a month of preparation with one afternoon of enthusiasm. There are moments, though, when you need a focused push—a difficult conversation, a new skill, or an effort that stretches you—to reach the next level. Then comes the real challenge: making the behaviors required at that level your new normal. Intensity helps you climb the step. Consistency helps you establish yourself there. That’s this week’s Whiteboard Wednesday. Watch below, and ask yourself: What “wall” in my life deserves another look? Step up. Then make that level your daily standard. #WhiteboardWednesday #Cognitecture #MentalPerformance youtu.be/0YsYr5KAR8o

If you wait to feel confident before doing difficult things, you may spend your entire life waiting. Courage moves while doubt is still present. Then confidence arrives carrying the evidence. If you want to learn how I work with clients on ☝️: 👇🔎coachmays.com/coaching

Want an uncommon team? Start with how you handle discomfort. 🦬🔥 The best programs run TOWARD the hard conversations, the accountability, and the work others avoid. Coaches have to lead the way. Building a championship culture requires being UNCOMFORTABLY UNCOMMON. What uncomfortable thing does your team need to face today? 👇 #CoachMays #MentalToughness #ChampionshipCulture #BasketballCoaching #HoopHeads @hoopheadspod
