Good accurate explainer of the effects on the body of sprinting 400 meters. Understanding this process was key to me breaking the WR and consistently running 43 seconds.
Explainer video on science of why the 400m sprint is considered the most painful track & field event.
And why “no person on the planet can run the 400m all out from start to finish".
The race pushes the way the body creates energy to the limit:
▫️0-50 meters: ATP-CP (energy system for very short and explosive movements; used up after 5-10 seconds)
▫️50-200 meters: Anaerobic glycolysis (burns glucose without oxygen, leading to lactic acid buildup and muscle fatigue)
▫️200-300 meters: Aerobic energy (uses oxygen to break down glucose, but cannot keep up with the demand)
▫️300-400 meters: Anaerobic energy reserves tapped while aerobic energy is too slow to fill the gaps (lactic acid buildup is going HAM)
Track athletes can pace for longer distances and shorter ones are just over quicker (obvs).
The Olympic record is a blazing 43:03, set by South African runner Wayde van Niekerk in 2016 (and 2024 Final race is tomorrow).

At the park with my kids, I heard 5 languages spoken from other families. Not sure of all the dialects..maybe Yoruba, a Slavic language, Arabic, Spanish, and English. the kids were all united by play. Our community reminded me of what makes living in America great & unique!
when I was a kid my siblings and I watched Sister Act 2 on repeat. we only had a few movies on tape and we didn't have cable. ngl this reunion made me happy. thankful to be alive, healthy and surrounded by a loving family.

I will ALWAYS be behind an individual succeeding… but will NEVER be behind individuals taking positions of power & influence who don’t have the mindset “my success must hinge on the success of those within my influence”! Selfish leaders destroy families, football teams, businesses, countries, etc… be accountable & lead for others, knowing that will ultimately be why you succeed!
Watching NCAA basketball this time of year is so fun! but the Amin Elhassan viral jump shot, the bball/sports section of the internet clowning him, and his response over the past few days has been pure comedic entertainment. 😂 @oddballhoops #NBA #MarchMadness

LEADERSHIP IS LONELY
"If you are going to be a leader, you’re not going to please everybody. You have to hold people accountable. Even if you have that moment of being uncomfortable." (Kobe Bryant)
