3rd and 8. This is something the Packers have done a lot of that I really like. Quicker concept to one side with a mini dagger concept working into the QB's vision I also like the switch release up top to let Lemon push the DB outside before breaking in

Jack Strand has been taking first team reps at QB for the Falcons. Who is Jack Strand? Glad you asked! I scoured for MSU Moorhead film during the draft process and broke down the D2 QB during our QB prospect preview show. Here’s the clip.

"There is nothing wrong with having tendencies. Anything you do well is going to have a certain level of predictability... Make your opponent prove they can stop a strength before you change what you do just to go against your tendencies. A world of difference exists between being predictable because you are unaware of a tendency and doing what you do best." - Brian Billick

Chicago’s early down play action rate was 24% in 2024, which ranked #30. Johnson increased it to 44% in 2025 (#2). Chicago’s pre-snap motion rate was 47% in 2024, which ranked #20. Johnson increased it to 61% in 2025 (#7). Chicago’s shotgun rate was 71% in 2024, which ranked #16. Johnson dropped it to 52% in 2025 (#28). Chicago’s 11 personnel usage was 72% in 2024, which ranked #7. Johnson dropped it to 52% in 2025 (#23). And Chicago’s 11 personnel usage in 2024 rarely diverged week to week. From 56% at its lowest to 85% at its high point. Defenses generally knew what they were getting with the Bears offense. In 2025, Johnson was using 90% 11 personnel in one game. Another week, it was 17%. He had three weeks below 35% 11 personnel and two weeks over 70%. Always adjusting and tinkering and trying to stay unpredictable.

Shanahan knew they were going to be in Cover-2 so he had this OTB-Dig combo to conflict the pole-runner (MLB). He can run deep and cut off the dig but he’d have to void the underneath middle and Purdy would just split the SAM and WLB to Tonges. Quick read and layering

Never apologize for a WIN…. Even if you have an URFA starting at quarterback
Teams that have been eliminated from the playoffs should show slightly more humility when they win a game with 3 net passing yards.

Joe Brady weighs in on Pure Progressions... "I just think that defenses are doing such a great job nowadays of so many things look like it is pre-snap and if you live in a progression read - you can just work through it and not care about what it is going to look like post-snap."

People that think QB’s having mostly pure progression reads because they can’t handle coverages based options need to listen to this. It’s IMPOSSIBLE nowadays to figure out pre-snap what coverage a defense is in…hence pure progression.

If you want to hear about pure progression and the role it plays in todays football, KOC talks about it here starting about the 7:30 mark. I answered a question earlier today about my experience in the “pure progression vs coverage based progressions” earlier today and his explanations are great ⬇️ xitter.cf/luke_mccown/status/199…

Lesson for HS & even CFB WR’s… if the DB is playing off, quit doing the dumb stuff you do all summer training, u don’t need to do anything at the LOS.. drop that head/shoulders & attack that space. Stem if u need to, but attack and push the DB upfield

Why we need strong men -- from the Grapes of Wrath "Men stood by their fences and looked at the ruined corn, drying fast now, only a little green showing through the film of dust. The men were silent and they did not move often. And the women came out of the houses to stand beside their men—to feel whether this time the men would break. The women studied the men's faces secretly, for the corn could go, as long as something else remained. The children stood near by, drawing figures in the dust with bare toes, and the children sent exploring senses out to see whether men and women would break. The children peeked at the faces of the men and women, and then drew careful lines in the dust with their toes. Horses came to the watering troughs and nuzzled the water to clear the surface dust. After a while the faces of the watching men lost their bemused perplexity and became hard and angry and resistant. Then the women knew that they were safe and that there was no break. Then they asked, What'll we do? And the men replied, I don't know. But it was all right. The women knew it was all right, and the watching children knew it was all right. Women and children knew deep in themselves that no misfortune was too great to bear if their men were whole."

Tom Brady seems to be a person who can brutally confront flaws & imprecisions in technique without letting it affect confidence or self-belief.   Similarly, Tom House appears to be a coach who can strike the right tone in delivering honest & direct feedback.  Both are rare.

Replying to @CoachOps
Good example. I recently went into the hdd to find some throws like this. Different direction, same idea.
