My thread: as somebody who worked on staff with @saintpetersuniv Men’s Basketball for two years, precisely how INSANE and impressive it is that the @PeacocksMBB are in the @MarchMadnessMBB Sweet 16. Alums, staffers - feel free to jump in.
Correct. But at least an exceedingly small percentage of college athletes can get paid far more than they would otherwise be able to command professionally!
Thanks to @John_Fanta for having me on last night. One thing I forgot to mention: St. John’s is (and has to be) markedly better in the backcourt this season - especially the cheat code of Zuby just overpowering guys in the last 8 Minutes of Games is gone. #sjubb
The best Referee-Coach interaction in recent Big East memory was Breeding’s live ball Technical on Hurley at Big East Final (when he couldn’t control himself despite knowing the situation) as payback for the Gaffney bump. Just Coach your team man.
Dunno why this is just so hard for the college basketball world to get - in baseball it's really normal that if you have an official or two where there's obvious, ongoing conflict between one ump and another or multiple teams; you just don't assign them to those teams games or try to assign them to significantly fewer games with that team.
Doesn't mean the game is being fixed, nobody's getting preferential treatment, it's not bias, it's just the right thing to do.
Certainly a little different when it's a national tournament or something of that nature; but in-league stuff should be easy.
I’ve known @CoachJayH for almost 20 Years. Truly a “build it from the ground up” Coach. Local Skills trainer —> Pro Skills trainer —> Tenured NBA Coach. Not to mention, one of the nicest, most grounded human beings in the basketball business.
You can’t max everybody and have to consider the age of the players (+ the fact you have a title in the bank). If players care about sustained winning they will take what their value is, not take every last dollar which essentially becomes paying for past performance.
Ironically - if this was the case - it would prevent the collapse of College Athletics and interest overall would not wane. The “Shut up and pay them” crowd is lobbying for benefits to 1% of athletes at the expense of the other 99%.
Send him to Europe to be challenged at the highest level.
Also - great job with A-10 campus visits. You’re the truth!
I don’t know if @BigEastBarroom works in the summertime but a valuable data set would be what every roster looks like if @BIGEAST passes same ruling at @SEC following their meeting today. #sjubb
Not all of what she is saying about herself is true.
Had chance to have her player’s back in real time (they show the replays as the referees review and have IPads) and now putting on a show.
Will be fired after this season.
Will Rick Pitino be retired by then? Sure hopes so. #sjubb
Malachi Jordan took a red-eye from LA to NYC to play in tonight's @elite20invitational in Shelton. It's his first visit to CT. Huskies hope he spends at least one year in Storrs.
"They want me to come in like Stephon Castle. Come win games for them."

LOL Luke Murray fired them go back to bed. St. John’s is also 5-0 in their last five contests against UConn. A few more and you might have to call it!
I kinda didn't wanna post about this because it's one of dumbest college sports stories i've seen this summer - but you're a special kind of brain dead if you think the head coach of the basketball program gives two shits about who the radio guys are.
That athletic department up and down is a circus - but above all else - it's a cheap circus. So the idea they'd cut these guys contracts completely tracks. Most of their assistant coaches don't make shit and a ton of them have left various sports over the years because of it. Do you really think they give a fucking shit about the two dorks talking to the three remaining BC basketball fans on their 'broadcasts?'
They could pick three broadcast major FR out of a random dorm to do it for free and it'd have no measurable impact on anything at that program right now.
Excellent coach (and player evaluator) who can credit his unique complex Zone Defense scheme for a lot of his success in MAAC/NEC. Would be curious to see if it translated at High Major level where there’s greater skill and size. Deserves the opportunity to prove it can.
I’ll add this. Yet another PR/Crisis Management DISASTER-class from @BCMBB and @BCEagles. So many ways to go about this other than the reactive spin/lying you see today. You have the right to make a change (although if it’s for the reasons being speculated, I’m not in favor) - but control the narrative.
These are the guys you take to Abe and Louie’s your first month on the job and ask “What the heck has been going on here the past 13 years?” - not refuse to meet with because you perceive they have the stench of a losing program (that they simply broadcast games for). Bad look.
Easily the hardest tweet of my career. Love you @JoshMaurerPxP and sorry it had to end this way 💔
Huge thanks to Mike Winn, Josh Maurer, and Danya Abrams for supporting and empowering me over the last 13+ years.
I will always be an Eagle 🦅 #WeAreBC
If I’m the @IndianaFever I’m trying to add Maddie Siegrist at the Deadline. Winning player, good culture fit, and shooting 44% from 3 this year. Could give Caitlin Clark some much needed space to operate or make defenses pay if they decide to help off her.
