Big shout out to the parents whose kids don’t get much playing time or spend most of the game on the bench. You still come to every game, cheer for the team, and support every player, even when your own child might not get any minutes. You’re teaching your kids what it means to show up, be part of a team, and put 'we' before 'me.' It takes real dedication and selflessness to be there all the time, and your example is helping your kids become strong and caring people. Thanks for showing what true team spirit looks like! Especially the parents from RMHS!

This is my proposal for C1 state tourney.
-Top 32 teams make playoffs via NSAA PP
-No Reseed, play it out
-Single Elimination, have to win to get to state tourney
- Decreases student classroom time missed
-Should decrease costs for NSAA for extra games for officials

How mentally tough are you? Getting better at basketball is boring. You have to do the same thing every day until it becomes a habit and happens naturally. It is a lifestyle, not a choice…for years.

🏀 INTERVIEW: "I think soccer and basketball are kind of similar games. The spacing is similar. I think playing both just makes me better at each of them."

My quick thoughts:
1. Coaches (school and club) and parents have got to partner better to make healthy kids a priority. Multi-sport for muli-muscle development should be pushed for as long as possible. There seems to be a lot more college athletes who were muli-sport kids than focused on one sport.
2. Volleyball clubs have to find a way to work better with other sports. And not make kids feel (or be told) they can't play with school teams at camps, weights, open gyms during the summer months! It could be those others sports too, but we sure seem to see a lot of a push for volleyball only.
3. More emphasis in youth sports (especially basketball it seems) on fundamental and skill development.
4a. A lot less focus on playing games. Wins will come too. Put teams in the appropriate division with their skill level and a winners mentality will develop.
4b. When youth teams are playing 3-4 times as many games as they have practices in a season...and more than the high schools and colleges are playing...we have issues. No matter the sport.

Y’al think I’m crazy when I say children need to shoot with smaller balls, maybe you’ll listen to Ray Allen talk about his 12-year-old son’s shooting…

If your 14 YO multi-sport athlete isn’t willing to eat breakfast daily, make his or her own snacks, put their phone down an hour before bed they really don't care about being great.
Seriously, if a 14 YO who has a tablet, spends > 4 hours/day social media, is enrolled in specialized training/multiple sports that you spend thousands of dollars on annually should absolutely be able to structure a routine!
Summer is coming to a close. It's not the time to goof off. Now is the time to dial in your nutrition, sleep, hydration, and habits.
Don’t claim you want to be great, set PRs this fall, and be a starter yet have a work ethic consistent with riding the bench.
Some extra tough love from me this morning.. there’s a lot of hard working athletes out there hungry to get better and will easily outperform those who slept in, stayed up late, skipped breakfast, and cared more about social media than they do playing time.
You reap what you sow. If you want to be a first string starter your habits should reflect that. Control your controllables.
