One of our staple drills to teach .5 decision-making: 4-on-3.
The defense starts by circling, the coach throws the ball in, and itโs live. We put 10 seconds on the shot clock to force quick decisions and game-speed execution.
This drill teaches our players to:
โข Make .5 decisions
โข Keep the ball moving instead of sticking
โข Attack advantages
โข Fly around on defense with urgency and communication
Simple setup. Game-like reps. High-level habits.

During the @Tabchoops scholastic event in Dallas in June I asked former NBA PG Rafer Alston what advice he would give to parents about raising a high level HS basketball player.

Cougars finished the TABC Showcase with a 3-0 record. Our guys competed, shared the basketball, defended with energy, and represented our campus the right way. @Tabchoops
