David Goggins said: “When you think you’re done, you're only at 40% of what you’re capable of.” This video is my favorite example.

Freshman Football Holy cow! What a comeback! Skutt erased a 21-point deficit with 4 TDs in the final 8 minutes, capped by Jake West’s go-ahead TD pass to Sam Fox with 15 seconds left. Boston Zink sealed the 35-28 win with an interception! 🏈🔥

Interesting fact: A high school football game has 48 minutes on the clock. But a study found the average play lasts just 5.6 seconds. At 130 plays, that’s roughly 12 minutes of actual action between BOTH teams. Months in the weight room. Summer heat. Film. Practice. All for opportunities measured in literal seconds. And you don’t know which 5.6 seconds will decide the game. That backside block you took off? The pursuit you cut short because somebody else would get him? That might’ve been it.

Nick Saban asked his team a simple question: “Do we have show dogs on the team, or do we have hunting dogs?” Show dogs want to be seen. Hunting dogs want to win. The answer tells you everything about your culture. 🏆

Don’t stick coaches in the box and waste them. Give every set of eyes a job. One coach tracks the box count and front movement. Another handles down, distance, and field position. Someone watches pressure, motion, substitutions, and late alignment. Put every coach to work, then get that information to the sideline.

This defines ‘No Deposit - No Return.’ We all want the result. But wanting it isn’t enough. “You can’t just want it. You’ve got to pay a price to earn it. You’ve got to pay a price to get on this stage.” - Mike Elko Everything is earned. Make the deposit. Go get it.

"You don’t get rewarded for doing what is required."@inkyjohnson Greatness is not given to a chosen few. Greatness is given to the few who choose to do 'more than what's required'. To be great, you have to give great -great sacrifice, great focus, great discipline, great effort.

Ben McCollum shares what it feels like to be around first-place people and a first-place culture. "I went to Northwest Missouri State, and my first practice with Steve Tapmeyer - best coach I've ever been around - I sat there and I'm like, 'This is what first place feels like. This is what a first-place culture feels like. This is what first-place people feel like.'" That was the wake-up call. He realized what first-place people have: "They've got an extreme work ethic. They've got an edge to 'em that other people don't - a competitive spirit." Then he quoted John Thompson: "You can tame a fool a lot quicker than you can resurrect a corpse...We want guys with a little edge to 'em." You can coach skills, but you can't coach competitive spirit. You don't want to consistently coach their effort and attitude. The last thing they look for: Energy givers. "Over the years, we found that guys that are moody don't make it in our program." "If you're moody, if you have low energy, if you suck the life out of the building - you don't make it." Talent isn't enough. Your energy matters. Your attitude matters. Successful people have a competitive edge, they bring energy, and they look to consistently get better. They raise the standard through what they do. (🎥 Watts Happening Podcast)

Titles can identify captains. But they can’t create leaders. I love this from Marcus Freeman: “We have a whole bunch of guys who are going to choose to lead. They don’t need a title to lead.” That’s what great teams need. Not 2 or 3 captains doing all the leading. A locker room full of people willing to speak up. Hold the standard. Bring energy. Help a teammate. Do the right thing when nobody is watching. Too many players wait for permission to lead. They think they need a “C” on their jersey, need to be a senior, or need the coach to name them something. You don’t. Leadership isn’t a position you’re given. It’s a choice you make. Every single day. 👇

still can't believe the game that Genatone had. Unbelievable. And he just hands the ball to the ref like he's done it 1,000 times before. Legendary

I literally can't wait to see all the ESPN talking heads squirm in their seats tomorrow when they have to try to explain why the terrible Pittsburgh Steelers beat their precious Bengals & put up 30 points on them to do it. I. Can't. Wait!
