Short film: "Room 404" (404号室) "Room 404" is a six-minute Japanese horror short written and directed by filmmaker Itsuki Kadota (@kadotaitsuki/門田樹). The film received the Best Short award at the 2026 Tokyo Horror Film Festival (@TokyoHorrorFilm/東京ホラー映画祭) and has also appeared at other film festivals. The story takes place at a love hotel, where a female front-desk employee (played by @sakurako_ideue/井手上桜子) receives a complaint from a guest about strange noises coming from Room 404. What initially appears to be a routine customer-service issue soon takes a disturbing turn when she goes to investigate… Rather than relying on a lengthy buildup, the film uses its brief runtime to establish an unsettling situation and gradually reveal that there is more to the incident than initially appears… For anyone interested in Japanese horror shorts, "Room 404" is worth adding to the watchlist, especially with it being only 6 minutes long.
