A good book will leave a lasting impact on the reader. A single quote, concept, or idea that stays with the reader long after the book is finished. A good book plants a seed of knowledge and understanding, it’s up to the reader to water and nurture it into its final form.
“Do not think it worthwhile to produce belief by concealing evidence, for the evidence is sure to come to light.”

Last night, one of these officials worked a big game (Hays vs. Great Bend) and didn’t get home until 1am. By 8am, he was back in stripes, refereeing 4th/5th grade football. Officials are needed in all sports at all levels.

Living in Kansas, I might be a little biased, but I find the rolling hills of the prairie beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, I like the mountains and the coast, but I love the prairie.

There was a time when tallgrass prairie covered 170 million acres of North America.
Today, less than 4% remains intact.
In the Flint Hills of Kansas, you can still walk through a surviving stretch of that landscape, with bison, wide-open views, and grass that grows tall by autumn.
I'd love to see it in person.
Officials are needed in all sports at all levels.
Every game we get to play exists because someone is willing to step in and do the job. 🧡
Officials make the game possible. To every official who shows up: thank you. 🤝 The game needs YOU.

Coaches,
You have players on your roster who love the game but may not have the ability or opportunity to play at the next level. Encourage them to give officiating a try. They can start while in high school or college and stay involved in the game for the next 50+ years.
The official pastime of sports fans: criticism.
However, when every mistake is a disaster and every loss demands a firing, people tune you out. Give credit when it’s earned. Save criticism for when it matters. It carries more weight when it isn’t your only response.

Highly inappropriate behavior from this high school official. From the sounds of it, there was previous issues with excessive celebrations during the game. Throw the flag and explain to the coach the situation. No excuse for this kind of behavior from any official.
I’ve received a statement from a MSHSAA member after this incident (video below) during Thursday night’s matchup between Glendale and Kickapoo.
“We were made aware of the situation, and the official in question has been suspended indefinitely.”

“progression from activist to martyr, his slow march to willed disaster, can be viewed, not as a descent into madness, but as a reasonable progression”
