With high demand for motor fuels across Nebraska, I have signed an executive order to help ease the burden and ensure timely access to fuel for Nebraskans.
This executive order temporarily allows vehicles transporting gasoline to exceed weight limits by up to 10% and reiterates the federal Hours of Service waiver. These actions will help ensure more fuel reaches the communities that need it most. ⛽️ 🚚 📈

ICYMI: Thursday in North Platte, joined by rural state senators, my emergency management cabinet, and firefighter leaders, I signed an executive order to initiate a whole-of-government task force to close the gaps in our statewide radio system and get our state’s volunteer fire agencies connected to that network.
Nebraska’s volunteer firefighters are the backbone of our wildland fire defenses, and this year’s historic wildfires revealed problems that are long overdue to be fixed. We recognized it, and I ordered action.
Public safety is the highest calling of government, and we will continue working to ensure those on the front lines have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.

I appreciate our task force partners and the volunteer firefighters who put their lives on the line to protect Nebraska communities. The @NEStatePatrol is committed to working together to close these communication gaps and keep our first responders and communities safe.
Nebraska experienced historic wildfires across our state this year. One of the challenges that became clear was the difficulty first responders faced in communicating during these emergencies.
That is why I signed an executive order creating a task force to address this critical issue and bring me solutions to close the communications gap for our wildland firefighters.
Our rural volunteer firefighters risk their lives to protect our communities, and we must ensure they have the tools and resources they need to communicate effectively and keep Nebraskans safe.
Our agency has placed a high priority on leadership development. We were proud to host the @TheIACP First Line Leadership Training and invite members of our allied agencies to attend.
