Sometimes a simple formula can unlock your business.

Speaking at @holdcoconference 2026: JOHN WILSON
John built a broad holdco. Then he went all in on just one business. Now he’s using media to accelerate it all.
Few people have learned more than John.
He’s awesome: @WilsonCompanies

I recently attended the HoldCo Conference. Here were my major takeaways:
This was a conference of people who either owned multiple businesses or hope to one day own multiple businesses.
I only have one business (@rolling_suds) but because we have hundreds of units across the country, they told me I was allowed to come ;)
- Holding Companies usually have one or two businesses that make up the bulk of the HoldCo annual revenue
- Walker Deibel suggested getting one business and building it for 5-7 years before deciding to add any additional businesses
- The people who attended were AWESOME and I am glad I got to develop some great relationships with other solid operators
- You can use media and content to accelerate your business, no matter what business you are in
- Growing a business is hard, being specific and focused about what you are building and why makes it *easier*
- If you are going to partner with someone, a good partnership is nothing without clear expectations from the start and regular check ins, things can go wrong
- Building businesses so they are independent on their own is better than having tons of shared services because you may have trouble selling the companies later. Also, it removes accountability from the CEO of those businesses for certain functions when you bring them up at the HoldCo level.
- Once you have built significant wealth (or are on the path), building a generational HoldCo early is incredibly important to set your family and their future families up for success.
- Remote business ownership is possible with clear expectations and as long as you have a clear understanding of how to operate the business.
- I didn’t meet any owners who didn’t have experience fully operating one business for at least a couple of years
- The SMB/ETA/HoldCo community is strong and I continue to be impressed by the types of people I get to meet
I highly recommend you attend next year!

Just got back from @HoldCoConf. Hands down the most actionable conference I’ve ever been to.
If you own a business that you want to scale through acquisition, this is the room you need to be in.
Here are my top takeaways from the day 1 sessions:
#Entrepreneurship #HoldCo

I went to the 3rd @HoldCoConf this week. @girdley and @WilsonCompanies threw a banger of an event at Sundance.
|The best line of the week for me came from a VERY successful HoldCo CEO - "I still flew here on Delta"
My take away - Stay humble, stay hungry and hustle!
Compound Conference retweeted
Just got back from two business conferences where I spoke and got to connect with a ton of people.
Some standouts:
- A former Green Beret who’s acquired close to 100 businesses
- A business influencer growing by 300–500K followers a month
- An independent sponsor who’s built a 9-figure net worth
- Powerful personal tesimony from @BrentBeshore about life beyond business success
And honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Nearly everyone there was doing big things (way ahead of me in a lot of ways) but still down-to-earth, friendly, and willing to share.
Also had some investors I’ve been talking with across a few deals decide to move forward after connecting in person. Really grateful for the trust they’re putting in the operators and in what we’re building. Just a reminder that a little face-to-face goes a long way.
Seeing so many close friends, partners and current and former clients
The biggest complaint I hear about these events is the cost... and yeah, they’re not cheap.
But on the flight home, I felt fired up, inspired, and my goals just got a whole lot bigger.
No way to fully measure the ROI on that... but if I apply it right, it’s going to be huge.
Already looking forward to next year!
