Super late and really rough Halloween ๐ WIP of @hek4tedraws โ little JayVik family + plus my own vikling Ofelia!
From the left: Ada, Jayce and Mrtina, Vik and Ofelia and Elya leading the way - a perfect cinema menu: a popcorn bucket and a big cola!

"well you CAN'T complain about people downloading and reposting your fics because your fics aren't YOURS and they're meant to be SHARED" do these people realise they're moving exactly like AI bros

Some of you are waaaay too comfortable disrespecting writers.
If you want to thank them for what they brought you, the least you can do is respecting their wishes and what they want to do of their own works.

no, pro-piracy arguments don't work on fanworks. fanworks being free doesn't mean that you are not doing any harm by distributing a work nonconsensually. fanworks being free means they were never a commodity to begin with and don't deserve to be treated as such.

When AO3 returns:
-Leave kudos on stories that made you smile/cry/laugh
-Comment on ones that ended months/years ago
-Share links of your favorites, and tag the author so they can see it!
-Don't forget how you felt today when you're tempted to rate someone's free piece of art๐

fanartists can do commissions, set up shops selling products with other people's characters, put "don't repost" on every piece of fanart they put out, but if a fic writer asks to not be reposted or (god forbid) asks for kudos/comments yall will take them out back and shoot them

The concept of looking down on writers and their works while not being able to live without them still lol

Also
If writers are "whining over nothing", why are you all having a breakdown about not being able to read their work everyday? It's "just fics" right?

my take on the ao3 google drive drama: preservation and redistribution are two different things. downloading fic for personal use is fine; uploading other peopleโs work permission to your own archive and distributing the link to thousands of people is a different thing. (1/2)
