I've had an incredibly insightful year working with and learning from some of the biggest creators in the world, and some genius up and comers too! From gaming strategy with @CheckpointSteve and @Preston to being invited to @MrBeast HQ to visit the studio🤯 Working with a number of channels to restructure and optimise content for TV, Beta tested many new creator tools, and have continued to push efficient production pipelines with my clients; A highlight this year has been designing a new, robust ideation process with @MoonRealYT Also hosting a 40+ Creator charity stream for 9hrs where we raised $11,000! Shoutout also to some of the most progressive minds in the space who I've had the pleasure of chatting to about YouTube ideation and philosophy; @dabidoYT @ColinandSamir @mariojoos @MateoPrice3 @Ryguyrocky @zacalsopp @RoxCodes @oligilpin @ParkerGames @julianvpolo @TimDervish Thank you for a fantastic year! Hoping to have more public-facing discussions in 2024, along with publishing my take on an interactive-newsletter! :)

Big
šŸ“ŗ Big news! @BBCNews is now streaming live on YouTube in the UK and U.S. YouTube is the home for high-quality, trusted news: in the first half of 2026 alone, viewers watched over 18 billion hours of news content on the platform. By using @YouTube's live tools, iconic broadcasters like the BBC can build deep, authentic rapport, bringing global communities together to learn, discuss, and follow history as it happens.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This comes as part of a wider move to expand the license fee charter. An upcoming government white paper will recommend Britons be forced to fund the BBC if they use YouTube, Netflix, Amazon or Disney Plus independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

āš ļø VidSummit 2026 Survival Guide āš ļø Here's 6 tips to consider going into the 3 day event… Send this to a friend if it’s their first time! Feel free to reply with your own @vidsummit advice. 1) Join a productive meet-up The VidSummit app (Mixies) always has open-invite gatherings around specific topics. Gym sessions, study groups, niche meetups, coffee breaks & socials etc. It’s always worth checking a few out, especially if you’re travelling alone or want to break the ice and make new friends. I did this on the first day of my first event and I'm still friends with the creators I spoke to. Having people to get excited about meeting next year will be worth the dive, I promise. It compounds. 2) Be proud of your work and other’s work Creators at all levels and stages attend VidSummit so do not be afraid to share your experience and history. If you’re impressed by someone else’s accomplishments, someone is bound to be impressed by yours. Speak openly about your skills, the channels you have been a part of, or the niche you’re in - it’s not uncommon to have someone in a similar situation overhear you and ask to chat. 3) Ask questions whenever you can VidSummit is jam packed with knowledge in every room. From the people to the talks, you could fill entire notebooks with your learnings. But you would also be surprised how quickly your day fills up and time seems to pass. This means every second counts, and when the opportunity arises to ask a question or speak to a creator - take your shot, because you might not get another chance. Don’t end up kicking yourself for not getting that customised advice or answer you’ve been searching for. Make every interaction matter, whether it’s to make friends, learn something, or share your own value. Those moments compound over time. 4) Reciprocity is vital As mentioned, VidSummit is brimming with value. It has some of the biggest industry professionals in the world around to chat. Whilst this means there are buckets of valuable insights to gather, it’s important to support that culture in return by giving value back in your own way. There’s a huge variety of creatives at VidSummit, and sharing your own advice and learnings is in the spirit of the event, and could help other creators massively. This is also easily the best way to stand out when networking and trying to develop working relationships. 5) Don’t worry about missing a talk There’s 60 talks over VidSummit’s 2 days, which is absolutely amazing, but it can also be a lot to digest. You may also want to see two speakers who are on at the same time. Just remember that you have Replays of each talk, so don’t get too stressed out. Prioritise the sessions you think you would gain the most value out of being in-person for. Talks that you want to connect deeply with and actualise. Besides, some of the best conversations I and many others have had at the event have been in the hallways in between talks. (Don’t be talking loudly while a speaker is on though) 6) Stay hydrated With lots of people flying in and travelling, just remember Dallas is hot. Make sure to maximise your learnings and social battery by maximising your energy. Don’t get overexcited and remember to grab a drink from time to time. It’s a lot easier than you’d think to lose your voice at this event. Extra tip: If you run into @derraleves make sure to thank him for what he and his team have built!

It's hard to describe the feeling of using this website but anyone who grew up with TV but transitioned to digital content from 2000-2010 will get It.
SOMEONE TURNED YOUTUBE INTO OLD-SCHOOL CABLE TV. YOU FLIP CHANNELS AND WATCH WHAT’S ON. it's called Channel Surfer → channelsurfer.tv/ you open the tab and YouTube stops feeling infinite. no algorithm spiral. no thumbnail shouting at you. no sitting there trying to pick the ā€œrightā€ video. just a retro TV guide. gaming. cooking. history. music. tech. pick a channel and join whatever is already playing. not from the beginning. somewhere in the middle. like turning on the television after school. built by Steven Irby, who missed channel surfing without deciding what to watch. we got endless choice. then missed watching whatever was already on. open the guide. pick a channel. stop looking for the perfect video.

We are now in the SENATE! After another year of conversations around DC, we have gone bicameral. Steph and I are proud to announce the launch of the Senate Creators Caucus. Washington is making increasingly consequential decisions about AI, social media, online safety, and the future of creative work. Creators, as the front lines of these issues, should be a voice in those conversations, but historically, we've fallen into the cracks of the system. Now we have a seat at the table. More to come soon!

This is huge, and I’ll actually be speaking more on all of it in an upcoming video I’m working on. May as well soft reveal, as it’s a big one!
We’re investing Ā£3M over the next three years to help more people across the UK build careers in the creator economy and screen industries. That includes expanding our partnership with @NFTSFilmTV and growing the @YouTubeCreators incubator 10x. Proud of the teams working to open up more opportunities for creative talent across the UK šŸ‘

This thread is still elite ball knowledge
It's no secret anymore that longer videos are performing better on YouTube thanks to TV viewership. But just making longer videos isn't going to cut it... Let me tell you how to catch up with those of us that spotted this trend 3 years ago and how you can optimise for it. šŸ‘‡

It’s called Parkinson’s Law. Our work expands to fill the time we have, much like fluids fill the container they’re placed in. If a YouTuber only has 2 hours each evening to work on videos; they make tighter plans, avoid delays, and get 3 uploads out per week. If they quit their job and now have 8 hours free, the consequences of not hitting their deadlines aren’t as apparent, and there’s more room to play with the process. It becomes allowable to chase perfection with tweaks and edit revisions or to get distracted, because there’s more time to expand into. Result = 1 video per week. Removing those time constraints removes urgency. We can just delay until it’s perfect, but then the perfection of the idea itself becomes a sunk cost fallacy. This is the same dynamic behind why students produce more output on tighter deadlines: As the time window to submit shrinks, you stop thinking and start executing. You don’t have the luxury of optionality anymore, because not finishing actually matters. Bottom line: we get shit done when there’s consequences. Too few creators remove constraints vs replacing them, and that leads to complacency.
It's interesting that YouTubers who go "full-time" invariably end up releasing fewer videos on a less consistent schedule than when they still were working their day job.

Glad to see this is now a reality! YouTube.com/recap Rolling out this week šŸ™
I know YouTube has the "Round up Recap" for Music but would be great to have a full content ingestion recap Do I trend towards long or short videos? What niches? How many hrs of watch time total? What are my favourite channels to watch? Would be super insightful @YouTubeLiaison

So glad we haven't seen this again ngl
It seems like YouTube is testing showing comments rather than view count on mobile rn šŸ‘€ This massively threw me off, but it did make me view the videos differently, which is a testament to how much social proof view count provides at the moment.

He just finished his journey, and what a fun journey it was. Stoked to see what the next big project is.
Ryan Trahan made 300m views across his first big penny series. One of the only creators I watch who is cool with flipping to daily content to create a 'moment' on YouTube; where his audience can grow more familiar.āœļøšŸ§  Most creators would've put all 50 airbnbs in one video.
