Day 1, finally. Route 66, mile zero-ish. Lou Mitchell’s at dawn, yellow umbrellas out, “world’s finest coffee” already lit. Official start is Jackson and Michigan. Unofficial start is right here, with eggs and a promise to keep going west. Follow for the rest of the road.

Prepare for two years of political theater. BUT grandstanding politicians cannot actually hurt Elon Musk or Tesla or SpaceX. ♦️The President is still the President. He controls the executive branch and has veto power (and pardon power). ♦️Texas is purple, and every Tesla and SpaceX project went through the normal local hearings and permitting processes. The permits were approved because the local residents and officials saw the economic advantage of the jobs. ♦️Markets will stabilize as they realize that this harms other companies more than Tesla and SpaceXSI - which always have a good relationship with local communities. The fundamentals have not changed. Tesla and SpaceXSI can operate independently of the grid if need be. They will accelerate, not slow down.

The first Cybercab crash 😔 the haters were right
Tesla has reported the first Cybercab crash to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the report, a Cybercab was traveling at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) when it drove into a large, water-filled pothole, causing damage to the vehicle. Personally, I don't think this incident should be viewed in the same way as a typical traffic accident. At the time, a safety monitor was inside the vehicle, and there were no passengers. While the vehicle sustained damage and the incident was officially reported as a crash, I believe it makes more sense to view this as an edge case encountered during autonomous driving development and testing. After all, identifying and learning from these unusual scenarios is an essential part of improving autonomous driving technology and making it safer and more reliable.

Route 66, Day 14 Well I did it, and just over two weeks had finished Route 66. Wished I had taken some more time at places but overall a very fun trip.
