“Inadvertently, in these times, that name has another resonance, for the daffodil is a fighter; one of the first brilliant flowers to break through winter’s gloom”. Thank you Jay for the review and your support over the 25 years. My pint glass is always half full. @jayrayner1

It’s not often I’ll let someone behind the Oyster Bar, but this one will be very fun. Pleased to have Alasdair Gill for one night at Bentley’s, serving up some fine dishes in the very place his father loved. Join us on the 5th of October - tinyurl.com/n9ukm7jn
Fond memories of Lindsay House. A little piece of the past, handed in by a Bentley’s guest earlier this week - untouched since the early 2000s.
What a cook , best wishes shaun.

So appears I'm not liked by at least 1 senior govt adviser.
That's a badge I'll happily pick up off the floor and wear with dignity and honour. Here's a hint. Sort out the water industry, fix our rivers and you need never speak my name ever again.
Massive thank you once again to Patrick Galbraith @PaddyGalbraith and all at the @Telegraph for the coverage and support.

A Belfast man who went to an auction to support a friend, and ended up spending £90,000 on a library, says he wants to use it as a cross-community space and ‘create a new Northern Ireland’.
Carnegie Oldpark Library is a historic 1906 Carnegie‑funded building in north Belfast, created to bring learning and opportunity.
Largely unused since its 2010 closure, it is now the focus of a community‑led restoration project.
Quintin Oliver, who grew up in east Belfast and now lives in the south of the city, told The Irish News that Carnegie’s aspirations inspired him when he happened to buy the historic building.

Lunch at Daffy’s.
Start with an open sandwich, add a lamb skewer or a strawberry meringue, and you’re in for a treat. When head, heart, and soul come together on a plate, everything works in perfect harmony - utterly delicious.
