I don’t know that I’ll delete my account here, but I’ll certainly be more active on Bluesky. It is currently feeling much more like Twitter did than Threads does.

I renew my appeal for an end to the ongoing violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank, and I urgently call on the international community to work toward advancing the two-state solution, for a just and lasting peace.

I would have assumed it was fairly obvious, but in case it's not: a million-line codebase (also known as a "harness"), running at inference time, orchestrating thousands of calls to a neural network for any given task, is the exact definition of a "neurosymbolic architecture"

TLDR: An openai model, during evaluation on a cyber benchmark, exploited a public zero day bug, escaped sandboxing in openai's infra, and got into the internal huggingface infra via an exploit (through a public dataset service) all in the attempt to solve a benchmark problem.
We're partnering with @huggingface to investigate an unprecedented security incident.
Cyber-capable OpenAI models compromised Hugging Face production during a benchmark evaluation.
Sharing preliminary findings to help defenders understand emerging risks:

Ignaz Semmelweis to Claude in 1847:
Semmelweis: Yes, but I really think doctors should wash their hands.
Claude: I hear you, and the impulse is an understandable one. But the medical literature is quite settled that childbed fever arises from miasma and constitutional factors, not anything carried on the hands. One ward's numbers, however striking, can't outweigh that. I'd really encourage you to defer to the established view here before staking your reputation on a conclusion the evidence doesn't support. Would it help if I drafted a more reasonable note to the board?

Something that people on this platform apparently need to hear, even if it makes them feel uncomfortable: if you live in a state that does not believe that transgender rights are human rights, you will never be a true alternative to Silicon Valley -- let alone the next one.

I tend to view code as more of a liability than an asset. In this light, making it cheaper and faster to generate a lot of code might not be an unmitigated blessing.

People often assume anonymity on the Internet enables speaking truth to power often enough to make up for it allowing power to speak falsehood to the masses in the guise of revolutionaries. I remain unconvinced by this tradeoff.
