Not only is it obvious this Secretary of State will waste our time, energy (literally!) and money on an ideological over-focus on 'net zero' policies (at any cost to the country), she will also be a major blockage on any sensible immigration policy reform. Word salad. No answers!
How to hold a dissembling, obfuscating minister’s feet to the fire.

I don't have a 'follower' audience on X, but if the 'right' doesn't unite, the UK is frankly, doomed. That starts with a 'cease-fire' of (2-way) media jabs and criticisms between @reformparty_uk and @Conservatives. Other minor 'parties' & commentators should also 'refrain'.

I certainly wouldn't trust a Labour Government (or Labour Government-driven) definition of "trustworthy media source" - that's for sure! As @Rebecca_SPaul says, what will their criteria be?! Given Labour's 'world view', I can just imagine!! Good work Rebecca flagging this. 👍
Online misinformation is a massive problem but the Government wants to solve it by designating certain online news providers as “trustworthy”. This means the Government deciding what news we do and don’t see. This raises many questions and concerns for me about what this means for freedom of the press and our democracy. ⬇️My thoughts here.

I totally understand that all political parties will want to be 'ready' for an early General Election and importantly, to 'be seen' to be ready. It's great for morale and rallying the troops etc etc - but there is no way that Burnham will trade 3 'free' years in No 10 to gain 2!

100% @KemiBadenoch! 1. All face coverings should be banned in public places. (e.g. I remove my motorcycle crash helmet when paying for petrol etc). MPs should not be expected to meet constituents who refuse to show their faces in the UK. 2. Typical ‘gotcha’-seeking journalist.
'I don't like face coverings whether they are Islamic or balaclavas' Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch was asked on #BBCBreakfast after the RNLI said it would review its security procedures to ensure the safety of its volunteers following anti-migrant demonstrations by masked protesters bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d3…

What has happened to this country?! The public not only voted in a Labour Government, but they also voted "Mrs Brown's Boys" to win the COMEDY award in the National TV Awards! Seriously?! Labour's first two years in Government is indeed laughable, but Mrs Brown's Boys? Really?

No way will @andyburnham call an early General Election! He's living the dream and will assume his 'northern charm' & 'doing things differently' will take him through to 2029. In the meantime, the PMQs 'tonal shift' will look something like this. :-) youtube.com/watch?v=ngEQT5YT…

If people don't already know that: - It's wrong to rape - It's wrong to have sex with children - Men and women are equal The answer isn't to tell them when they come here, and hope for the best. It's to never let them into our country in the first place.
🚨 NEW: The Government is handing out posters to asylum seekers telling them not to have sex with girls or mutilate their genitals

What a fascinating political landscape. Calls to 'unite the right', super wet (AKA self-identifying 'one nation Tories') resigning and having melt downs (on their way to the Lib Dems)? Meanwhile Burnham talks of 'safe & legal routes' - all while the boats just keep on coming!

If council tax / stamp duty are replaced by a 0.48% tax (on the property value), how will single occupants be 'discounted' (as they are with council tax) - given that they use fewer local services (schools, NHS, refuge & recycling etc)? @andyburnham @AngelaRayner @JohnHealey_MP

Well done @KemiBadenoch . "King of the wets" @GavinBarwell was not doing you or the @Conservatives Party any favours with his dripping wet and constant critique in the media. Who does this drip think he is anyway?! Waaaaay too big for his boots!
Gavin Barwell has lost the Conservative whip. Party sources keen to emphasise it’s not just about views but conduct too Letter from Baroness Williams, the party’s Chief Whip in the Lords, reads as follows:

For their Parties and for this country, @Conservatives & @reformparty_uk (incl. the very impressive @KemiBadenoch & @Nigel_Farage) should: (i) Acknowledge common ground / policy, (ii) quit the ego 'battle' & win the 'war', (iii) see the bigger 'win win' by ultimately uniting.

State opening of Parliament: It was certainly 'atmospheric' in Parliament today with the Labour Party / Kier Starmer farce....but what an insult to our Monarch to hand him a speech which originated from such a weak and woeful Prime Minister & Government. 3 more years of this! 😒

An honour as always to participate in the Banstead Remembrance Service on Sunday, on behalf of @SurreyCouncil, alongside veterans, fellow @PoppyLegion members & councillor colleagues. We must never forget the sacrifices made for the freedoms we live and breathe today.

The Dover lifeboat arrives back to port in heavy swells with the last of 435 migrants who crossed the Channel illegally today. It takes the total for the year to 26,274 - 838 have arrived in the days since the new UK-France partial returns deal came into operation.
