I stood before the parents of our youth ministry and explained why none of the girls attending camp are wearing bikinis, and none of the boys are going shirtless. All without mentioning the word modesty at all. First, I contrasted the biblical worldview that we have with a secular, feminist worldview of the culture. I said that most Christians have just adopted secular worldview standards of American culture about sensuality and think nothing of it. Well, we're not doing that in our youth ministry. We are prioritizing being set apart for Christ in God's Kingdom for His glory. The theme for our summer camp is SHIFT. Shifting from a secular worldview about their identity as a man or woman to a biblical worldview of being made in God's image. Then, I clearly defined what sensuality is from Scripture using 2 Peter 2:2, Romans 13:12-14. I went into the Greek word aselgeia and showed how sensuality produces lust and sexual unrestraint. I told them we are not going to pretend that bikinis aren't the equivalent of underwear and that pornography is not a problem in our society. So we aren't going to help lead these teens into lust when they're supposed to be developing a biblical worldview. So we presented a dress code that keeps everyone, adults and teens comfortable and covered. We even offer to help pay for the swimwear. The girls are wearing a one-piece with swim shorts. The boys are wearing a swim shirt with their trunks. All shorts are 6-9 from the seam. I then close by quoting 1 Peter 2:9-12 stating God has chosen us to be a holy nation, a royal priesthood that absatins from fleshly lusts that wage war against the soul. I get through this talk in about 10 min and ask if there are any questions at the end. There isn't even one. I instead have parents thanking me for setting these biblical Christ honoring standards and using Scripture as the basis for it.
