WILL BEATING ALAVÉS CHANGE THE NARRATIVE AROUND BARCELONA? 👀
The mental shift among Culers has been crazy.
We went from “If we don’t score five, give the opponents three points” to “Scoring five against smaller teams is just what we’re good at.”
It’s not because we’ve stopped loving this club. Those defeats have changed how we see this team.
At the start of the season, many of us genuinely believed this could be our year in Europe. We were beating everyone until the biggest tests came, and we fell short.
Now, even if we score five against Alavés, will it convince us that we can beat Europe’s elite? Or will people see it as another comfortable win against a team we’re expected to beat?
That’s the problem Barça need to address. We have to show that we can deliver against the very best, not just dominate the teams we’re expected to beat.
Or is this where Barça begin correcting the problems those defeats exposed?
Culers, what’s your take? 🔵🔴

🚨Is Lisandro Martinez the Defender Barcelona need , or simply the defender they can afford? 👀🔵🔴
I understand why Barcelona are interested in Martínez.
He’s left-footed, aggressive, technically gifted and comfortable playing out from the back. His profile fits several demands of Hansi Flick’s football.
But fitting the system isn’t the same as solving the problem.
Barcelona need a centre-back who can stand up to Europe’s biggest attackers, defend aerial threats, protect the space behind a high line and remain available throughout the season.
Martínez has qualities, but his height and injury record raise legitimate questions.
So I don’t want us to confuse a potentially attractive transfer opportunity with the right defensive signing.
Are Barcelona identifying the defender who will make this defence stronger, or simply the one who fits their financial situation?
Because those are two very different transfer strategies. 🔵🔴
🚨 Flick says Barcelona will NOT change their philosophy. I agree. But there’s something he needs to understand. 👀
Nobody is asking Barcelona to abandon their identity.
We love the high press, the attacking football and the courage to defend high up the pitch.
But having a philosophy doesn’t mean refusing to adapt when opponents find ways to hurt you.
PSG and Real Madrid exposed problems that cannot simply be ignored.
Can we improve our defensive positioning? Can we manage transitions better? Can we control games when the press isn’t working?
That’s not abandoning our identity. That’s tactical evolution.
Flick should stick to his principles, but he must also show that he can adjust the details.
The best teams don’t just have a philosophy. They know how to make it work against different opponents. 🔵🔴

🚨 BASTONI, SCHLOTTERBECK OR VAN DE VEN: WHO SHOULD BARCELONA SIGN? 👀🔵🔴
Barcelona don’t just need another centre-back. We need a defender who can survive the demands of Hansi Flick’s system.
I’ve looked at three interesting profiles, and each offers something different.
1. Alessandro Bastoni
For me, he’s the most complete option. He’s comfortable on the ball, excellent at progressing possession, can break defensive lines with his passing and has the composure to help Barcelona control games.
His experience and positional intelligence are also major advantages.
2. Nico Schlotterbeck
A more aggressive profile. He’s strong in duels, excellent at stepping out to win possession and has the passing range to launch attacks from deep.
However, his aggressive defending can leave spaces behind him, and some of his riskier passes can be costly when possession is lost.
3. Micky van de Ven
If recovery speed is the priority, he’s the standout. His pace is exceptional, and he has the physical ability to cover huge spaces behind a high defensive line.
But speed alone doesn’t make a complete defender. His positional discipline, consistency and injury record are also important considerations.
My verdict?
Bastoni is my first choice because he offers the best overall balance of defensive experience, composure and quality in possession.
Schlotterbeck is an excellent alternative, while Van de Ven offers something Barcelona could desperately use: recovery speed when the high line is exposed.
But here’s what I think matters most:
Barcelona don’t just need a centre-back who can defend. We need one who can defend the consequences of Flick’s football.
So, Culers, who would you sign?
Bastoni, Schlotterbeck or Van de Ven? 🔵🔴

Bastoni for me. He offers more than just defensive ability; he can help Barcelona control games and build from the back.
But Van de Ven’s recovery pace is tempting, especially with Flick’s high defensive line.
The real question is whether we want a defender who improves our build-up or one who helps us survive when the system breaks down. 👀🔵🔴
United can enquire all they want, but Fermín is not someone Barça should be looking to sell. His energy, intensity, goals and mentality are exactly what this squad needs.
Not every good player needs to be sacrificed for transfer money. Keep him. 🔵🔴
🚨🚨 JUST IN: Manchester United have made an ENQUIRY about Barcelona midfielder Fermín López. [@MatteMoretto] #mufc
Beating Alavés is expected. It won’t erase what happened against PSG and Madrid.
What Barça need now is not just another big scoreline, but proof that they’ve learned from those defeats. Until we start delivering against Europe’s elite, the doubts won’t disappear. 🔵🔴👀
What if Barça’s problem against PSG and Madrid wasn’t the quality of our attack, but how we were getting the ball to our attackers?
When our counterpress fails, the team gets stretched. The midfield loses control, the forwards become isolated, and our attacks become easier to defend.
Yamal and Raphinha can hurt any defence, but they need support, good service and runners around them. They can’t be expected to create everything on their own.
This is why I don’t think two poor attacking performances mean our attack is suddenly broken.
The real question is whether Flick can keep the team connected when our press stops working. 🔵🔴
