This morning started with heartbreak after waking up to find my van broken into, two windows shattered, and two lawnmowers stolen. For a moment, I thought I wouldnโt make it to the Louisiana Book Festival. But I reminded myself that one bad moment doesnโt have to ruin an entire day. Despite everything, I made it! Standing here surrounded by the five childrenโs books Iโve worked so hard to bring to life means more to me today than ever before. They may have taken my lawnmowers, but they couldnโt take my joy, my purpose, or my determination. Thank you to everyone who reached out with love and encouragement. Today, Iโm choosing gratitude over frustration. โค๏ธ

On Friday, October 30, 2026, a Harris County grand jury indicted 33 year old @ICEgov officer Mario Alberto Morales on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (his vehicle).
Harris County DA Sean Teare allege that video evidence, including Moralesโ body camera and surveillance footage, shows Morales aggressively steering his SUV into 48 year old Miguel Parra-Hernandez, running over his legs and causing serious injuries (including a broken leg in multiple places, a fractured ankle, and hip injuries that required surgeries).
Parra-Hernandez had no criminal record and was not even the primary target of the GestapICE operation.
