They claimed that denser housing would help. Well... 70% of that proposed "density" was dropped via amendment. A bill that had plenty of potential has much less potential now. Got to wonder what other parts of this legislation will be shaved off. cpr.org/2023/04/18/colorado-…

This is a horrible message. You can't arrest people just because they are poor.
Trump says he will outlaw homelessness and arrest everyone who refuses to comply. He will then give them the option to get out of jail to be relocated to new tent cities elsewhere where he will take care of their needs.

“[Sweeps,] we predict, will contribute up to 25% of the deaths among this population over a 10-year period,” Barocas told us. “To put that a different way, it means our states and our cities are literally killing people with this.” denverite.com/2023/04/10/hom…

Aware of the crack down on folks for sleeping outside? 1st Contact = ID and fingerprint for "tracking" purposes. 2nd = written warning + fingerprint. 3rd = citation/Arrest. Plus a stack of warrants carried to every encounter. Its a crime to be poor in Denver. Why? see below

When take a tent "get the person sleeping outside somewhere safe, hopefully a shelter or a motel" - Hopefully?!!" Don't need to take somebody's tent for that. Oh wait, Denver's point is to get them out of sight. Safety is an after thought. Understand? coloradosun.com/2023/03/10/m…

The courts continue to rule in favor of peoples access to public space when housing is not available. Camping bans are a form of "we don't want you round here " Jim Crow laws. Yes in 2023, and in places that pretend to be progressive. dailycamera.com/2023/02/24/j…

yesterday, a judge allowed the challenge that @DanWilliams303, @annaikurtz, and i (with the @acluofcolorado) brought to challenge boulder's criminalization of unhoused folks' survival to move forward. it's a first-of-its-kind ruling under the colorado constitution.
