ICA General Counsel, Zak Muscovitch, (@DNattorney) has submitted a formal complaint to the BBC regarding its incorrect use of the term "cyber-squatting" to describe lawful domain name investment in this article: bbc.com/news/articles/cqx2z2… The ICA condemns cybersquatting. Legitimate domain investing is a lawful activity and must not be conflated with abusive registration targeting trademark rights. #UDRP #jeffhamilton.com denied. The Complainant, jacket designer Jeff Hamilton Holdings, holds a USPTO registration for JEFFHAMILTONJH and alleged the Respondent used the identical domain for a fraudulent phishing scheme centered on a bitcoin QR code, pointing to inconsistent WHOIS records and an unnamed registrant. The Respondent produced identity documents showing its legal name is Russell Jeffrey Hamilton, along with a decade of prior correspondence with the Complainant and a portfolio of related domain names reflecting variations of its own name, and said the site was an unfinished music project. The Panel found the identity documents credible, held the bitcoin link and Arabic language content did not resemble a scheme to defraud the Complainant's customers, and concluded the Respondent was commonly known by the name and had made demonstrable preparations for a bona fide use @ adrforum.com/DomainDecisions…
