FINAL: Meigs County 34, Austin-East 14.
That is another Region 2-3A championship for the Tigers, and one last in Class 3A before they move back down to 2A next year.
Meigs has won region championships 9 out of their last 10 seasons. @DPASports

Tough result for the Cherokees, who were driving at midfield with a chance to win it with under two minutes left (without Sr QB Luke Lawson), but threw a pick six to the Golden Eagles. @DPASports

McMinn was driving — with the ball at midfield — and Rhea County jumps a route for the pick six.
Tough break for the Cherokee offense that was rallying without QB Luke Lawson tonight.

But Austin-East's backup QB throws a 45-yard TD pass first play of the 4th and runs in the 2.

Cherokees firmly in this ball game after a methodical touchdown drive near the end of the first half.
The question now is about the availability of senior QB Luke Lawson. After throwing an 11 yard TD on 3rd & goal, he was hurt on a 2pt.
McMinn County is vying for a home playoff game tonight at Rhea County in 3-5A play.
If the Cherokees can top the Golden Eagles, they’ll control their own destiny for the two-seed entering the final week of the regular season.
