Here’s the thing….Arbuckle and Venables have done this to themselves with their refusal to look at any quarterback other than John Mateer. Arbuckle has tried RPO game…quick game…short game…half field rollouts…12/13 personnel…empty sets…Mateer just is what he is (a BAD QB) and his inability to read a defense, see the field, and trigger just negates any consistency/effectiveness for the offense. Do all the other facets of the offense need to be better? Of course. But again…a competent QB changes everything and now…with no goals on the table and staring a losing season in the face, it will ultimately most likely cost people their jobs…and it should.

I don’t know how you can watch Oklahoma and think Brent Venables has this train headed down the right track. They’re gonna fire Ben Arbuckle and blame John Mateer, but the finger should be pointing at the head coach whose job it is to be a coach for both sides of the football and has completely failed at half of his responsibility for a majority of his OU tenure.

THIS!!!! Head coach isn’t just worried about one side of the ball. He is the Lincoln Riley of Defense but least Riley’s offense performed at a high level at all times.

Listen to BV at the half. He had many specific examples of what to fix on defense. Not a single specific example of what to change on offense. He’s so clueless. Completely underqualified to be a head football coach.

That play should be over and a TD the split second he tucks it. Someone tell BV he has a challenge flag in his back pocket

Touchdown Miss State. A double pass. The Rocky Beers fumble proves very costly and suddenly we have a ballgame. 17-7, #Sooners lead.

Tell the recruits to sit back and watch your future team get destroyed? Doesn't sound like a very good plan to keep them coming in.

Or play the backup and show everyone they aren’t ready. Two series and give him a chance. Trust is not something the fans have right now with this coaching staff.

Here's Ben Arbuckle today on Oklahoma continuing to stick with John Mateer at quarterback: "Throughout everything that he's done, the player that he is, the preparation that he has, we believe John Mateer gives us the best chance to win." #Sooners:
