Now I’m picturing a redneck airforce dogfighting league where they go up in the sky and try to “shoot each other down” with paintball guns. It’s a damn shame some government something or other probably wouldn’t let you do that.

Not enough to stockpile, you have to USE them, too.
i work in defense manufacturing in the hope, against all odds, that if we can make hellfire missiles cheap enough we can stop scam phone calls forever

I played it for a little while, it felt off to me, never played it again. Never got to the “FU Pay Me” choice because I quit long before that. Skinner Boxes still work, apparently.

Hell of a thing, ain’t it?
Growing older is grappling with the realization that my schizophrenic relative with paranoid delusions has a higher hit rate than the people who dismiss him.

I just bought that castle book THIS YEAR.
I'm very very sad tonight. I just learned that Stephen Biesty passed away in 2024 at 63... He is one of my favorite artist. Rest in peace.

Er, why?
Imagine buying an AD&D book called Charlemagne’s Paladins… …and discovering you’re NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY A PALADIN. 😂 Seriously. TSR did exactly that in 1992. Ken Rolston’s HR2 offered three ways to play: ⚔️ HISTORICAL: No paladins. No wizards. Just the brutal 8th century. 🛡️ LEGENDARY: Roland, enchanted swords, sorcerers, and hippogriffs! 🐉 FANTASY: Bring on the AD&D! And Roger Raupp’s interior artwork? Fantastic. God, I miss when TSR made books like this. Who else remembers those beautiful green Historical Reference books?

Julie Newmar. Bettie Page has never done anything for me.
Legs for days... Who are you humming "I Get a Kick out of You" to? Julie Newmar or Bettie Page?

I am unduly proud to have John's novelette set in the Auran Empire and very grateful to him for joining the anthology!
Fans of my work should be aware. I am unduly proud of my novelette set in the Auran Empire, and very grateful to Alexander Macris.

I would also add Rabid by Cronenberg and Last House on the Left. 70s Horror was nasty and unhinged and there were no rules. It was an all-out psychic assault, not a roller-coaster ride or a coy meta-commentary on the rules. Not for the faint of heart.
Here are the ten best 1970s horror movies in my opinion. If you haven't seen one or more of them, check them out. They are NOT in order. Suspiria (Italian) Texas Chainsaw Massacre Halloween Tourist Trap Zombie (Italian) Tombs of the Blind Dead (Spanish) Baron Blood (Italian) The Exorcist The Grapes of Death (French) Breakfast at the Manchester Morgue (Spanish) I have only one movie per director. I included movies that weren't as well known so you'd have something to look up and enjoy this Halloween season. I left off Jaws and Alien because if anyone hasn't seen these by this time, it's pointless to include them. Go see them first if you haven't. Yes I left off your objectively superior favorite. But I was asked to do this by one of you guys (i.e., a list of top 10 per decade) so it's your own fault. Yes, the lower middle image is a zombie fighting a shark.

TIL the word “gun” means “battle.” Bad-ass.
Fun fact: the word “gun” is short for Gunhild, an Old Norse girls’ name that people used to call their weapons for some reason. Like a good number of Germanic names, its literal meaning is ‘battle-battle’.

Screw them. If they weren’t up to something hinky, they wouldn’t be lying.
Joshua Michael found an access token on Flock's public website. No login required. No authentication. Just sitting there. He downloaded Flock's entire database. 300,000 device locations. 170,000 cameras. 130,000 other hardware units. 27,000 acoustic detectors. Made a map. Published it September 23. The Senate held a hearing on Flock the same day. Cited Michael's research. Flock panicked. Sent a cease-and-desist. Used a brand-protection vendor called Doppel to claim trademark infringement. The map said it wasn't affiliated with Flock. Doppel didn't care. Michael's site went dark. Then Proton moved it to Swiss servers. Now it lives on protonmcp.org. Untouchable. Uncensorable. Hosted by an encryption company in a country that doesn't care what Flock wants. The irony is crystalline. Flock left an access token on the internet. Michael used it to download their own data. Published it. Flock tried to suppress it. Proton said suppressing it is suppressing information. Which is true. The map shows Flock has 150,000 more cameras than they publicly claimed. Shows acoustic detection units mapping human speech across the country. Shows which police departments have access to the whole network. Flock doesn't want that visible. So they tried trademark infringement. Which only worked until Proton decided transparency matters more than Flock's feelings. Now everyone can see exactly how many cameras are watching their car. Where they are. Which cops can see them. Michael warned Flock about the exposed token in November 2025. Flock ignored him. Then got mad when he used it. The surveillance company that claims to protect privacy just tried to suppress the only map showing how much they actually surveille. And failed.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
