🧵 Before Norma Foley's speech in 2022 the Leaving Cert was being carefully redeveloped. At the time subjects that had previously had no extra component (like aural, oral, History essay, practicals etc) were going 80/20. 80% exam, 20% project. People were happy enough with this.

We couldn’t pick one chef of the week team so we had to go for two! One group won for flavour and the other for the quality of the roll in their swissroll 🏆 but excellent work all round 👏🏼 Well done lads! @thebrunnerD7

This year we have had a record number of students sign up to join the Green School committee. It is inspiring to see so many students work so hard to make a positive difference. Last years TYs set a high standard with their biodiversity display. @GreenSchoolsIre @thebrunnerD7

With online marking and everything else, can’t see why they can’t give a points total for candidates at the end of their results. Avoids the horrible act of having to add up your results to decipher what you got, while you’re already nervous to begin with. #LeavingCert2023 – at Dublin City, Ireland

One of the repercussions of teachers assessing students at LC, whether for CAO or not, is that the final cert's value will be defined by the school that gave it. That is not a world I want any part of.
I was a bit flippant with my last comment, not sure if I'd stand over it if pushed, but remove the CAO from the LC and we can chat about how schools can be involved in assessing an element of the LC. The points race is destroying 2nd level education. irishexaminer.com/opinion/co…

I’ve created these mind-maps for my year 11s so that they can see the key terminology linked to specific themes. Fingers crossed that this helps them identify what they can explore for different types of questions. Happy to share!
