Excellent insights from @JohnEMullinaxMD and Dr. Lauren Banks on the emerging efficacy of TIL in sarcoma. Thanks for @ASTCT for the opportunity to host these experts. @UChicagoHemOnc @UCCancerCenter
Can TIL therapy become a new treatment option for patients with sarcoma?
In this episode of ASTCT Talks, host Daniel Olson, MD, is joined by John Mullinax, MD, and Lauren Banks, MD, PhD, to discuss the emerging role of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy in sarcoma. The conversation explores early clinical results, patient selection, tumor procurement, and the multidisciplinary collaboration needed to bring this promising cellular therapy approach to patients with solid tumors.

New @JCOOP_ASCO analysis from NCI/SWOG S1404 adds important rigor to the debate over time-of-day immunotherapy infusions. After accounting for bias/confounding, pembrolizumab infusion timing was not robustly associated with efficacy outcomes.

Lots of promise with TIL, and hope it can expand outside of melanoma, but have to make next generations easier to scale.
Thanks @DrKedarKirtane , @DrFredLocke and @MoffittNews for having me.
From #CellCoast25: Dan Olson, MD (@DanielOlsonMD) of @UChicago reviews data leading to the FDA approval of lifileucel and explores future directions for TIL therapy across solid tumors.
Key Takeaways:
➡️ Lifileucel shows strong activity in PD-1–refractory melanoma.
➡️ IL-2 analogs and modified lymphodepletion may enhance safety and efficacy.
➡️ Advances in TIL manufacturing (neoantigen and phenotype selection, cytokine engineering) show promise but face scalability challenges.
It's always wonderful to reflect and to celebrate the wins with your patients, but I'm particularly grateful for this one: my sister-in-law Jenn's story of being cancer free 10 years out from stage IV NSCLC. #Immunotherapy

We are grateful to offer TIL to patients in need. The behind-the-scenes efforts for all involved teams is immense. However, the stress fades easily when the results shine like this.

Wonderful news and I couldn't agree more. This is great news for our patients with advanced melanoma. Looking forward to offering this at U Chicago! @UCCancerCenter
Lifileucel (TIL cell therapy from @IovanceBio) is now FDA approved for advanced PD-1 refractory melanoma!!! The melanoma community is so grateful to the patients, caregivers, and clinicians who have made the clinical trials of this therapy possible and got lifileucel to approval. We are very excited to bring this life-saving therapy to patients ASAP! Available immediately at @StanfordCancer!!!

“Everything about TILs is a pain in the neck,” says Nick Restifo,... “There's only one saving grace, and that is that they work.”
This is an insightful history of TIL as we're on the cusp of this therapy coming available for patients with melanoma.

Neoadjuvant immunotherapy for resectable melanoma carries huge promise to personalize treatment and improve outcomes, but randomized data is only now emerging. I reviewed the current studies and trade-offs of PD-1 Abs vs ipi combos. #ASCODailyNews @ASCO

TIL therapy is looking like a great option for some after PD-1 Abs fail in advanced melanoma. It will be interesting to see how and when we can use this for patients, and where we ultimately use ipi.

Congrats to @DrRobinReschke and team for making this project a reality!
We questioned if tissue-resident memory (Trm) T cells played a role in immune-related adverse events. As nicely shown here, they do expand after checkpoint inhibition in these irAE cases.
