Sunday, January 12, 2025, 4:10 PM PDT: A significant and damaging Santa Ana wind event is slated late Monday 8PM into Tuesday 11AM, and has a different wind axis than the week of January 7 - 8, 2025. This has more impactful fire threat/wind damage NE gusts 50MPH - 70 mph for the following areas Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, eastern sections of Malibu, and Ventura County. Cajon Pass, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange Counties isolated power issues that could arise. In addition, Chatsworth, Northridge, and Van Nuys will also see winds due to more moderate upper-level support by passing a low axis east of Yuma, AZ by approximately 125 miles. This will also decrease the wind velocities in San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena region compared to extreme events last week. Humidty levels still across all of Southern California remain 0% to 10% range which is crucial for fire behavior to spread rapidly. Also, the ongoing absence of rain in the last eight months has escalated the situation to a PDS. Particularly dangerous situation for fire growth, and acceleration as we’ve all witnessed in the past week.
